“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

The Holy Trinity is a mystery. Three persons, one God. We see the presence of the three from the time of creation. Yet the term Trinity does not appear in the Bible. Each person is unique: creator, redeemer, and sustainer. God is a God of relationship, with room for us in that relationship.

In today’s gospel, Jesus sends his disciples out to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We follow his command today. What is your understanding of the Trinity?

Food Bank - On the first Sunday of each month, we invite you to bring in food donations. The food bank is currently in need of the following items: chicken and beef Ramen noodles, mustard, mayo, salt & pepper, butter, evaporated milk, chicken broth, pancake mx, and crackers. Thank you!

Attention Future Gardeners: It is time to sign up for a garden plot here at the church. We have 6 plots issued on a first come basis. The sign up sheet along with the garden guidelines and release form can be found on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Turn in your release form to the church office or at the drop box at the church office as soon as possible. You will only be given a plot after all your information is turned in. Thank you and happy gardening!

2026 Community Table Dates - Mark your calendar for when ETLC will be preparing the evening meal: August 16, and November 22.

Spiritual Gifts Inventory - As we discern our calling as a congregation, we will be looking at our spiritual gifts. One approach is to do a “spiritual gifts inventory” to see where each of us has gifts. These are available printed in the church or by email for those joining online. Let Pastor Kim know if you would like to do this. If you find it hard to answer, bring your inventory and your questions and we will look at it together.

Got Questions? Join Pastor Kim in the gathering space or on zoom (using the worship link) at 9 am on Sundays. Bring your questions or come to hear other people’s questions. All are welcome!

REMINDER: Never send cash or gift cards in response to online, text, or phone requests. Pastor Kim will never reach out asking for gift cards or money by email, text, video message, or phone call - even if it might look like or sound like her. Don’t get scammed.

Have an event or other announcement for the weekly email? Please send a writeup to Susan at [email protected]. Announcements that are received by noon on Tuesday will be included in the following Sunday's announcements.

Prayer List - Need a name placed on the prayer list? If there is someone who you want us to include just on the current Sunday, you may write it on the prayer book on the podium currently in the front of the church near the gathering space door. If you have any questions about the prayer list and how it is determined or maintained, feel free to ask Pastor Kim.

2026 Church Council Members: The Executive Committee members of the church council are: Ruth Cramer, President; Angelee Mullins, Vice-President; Emily O'Hara, Secretary; MaryAnne Golling, Treasurer, and Lasse Syversen, Mission & Outreach Chairman. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact any one of the Council members.

Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:19

After Jesus is raised from the dead, he visits his disciples. He offers them peace, then breathes on them and they receive the Holy Spirit. He gives them their instructions - just as the Father sent me, I send you. They are sent out with peace and the Holy Spirit to share the good news.

We are sent today… with the same peace and Holy Spirit. Who do you know who needs peace and good news today? Will you share with them?

New Member Forms - New member forms are available in the narthex. Want to become a member? Pick up a form, fill it in, and set some time with Pastor Kim.

What about running for council on the ballot this November? “Here I am” (Isaiah 6:8). While that response isn’t expected, the nominating committee is asking for your prayerful consideration. One hour per month (zoom available). That’s 12 hours a year; where else would you get under 50 hours a year commitment? If you want the church to go in another direction or have options and concerns. Make no mistake! That is what council is. And just maybe your gift(s) is the one needed! Blessings on your decision!!

All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers.

Acts 1:14

Today we hear Jesus talking to his disciples before he ascends to heaven. He once again promises them that they will receive the Holy Spirit. And that they will be sent out as witnesses to share the good news.

We often don’t know who he is talking to, as they aren’t named. And we may even assume that it was only the original male disciples. However, we know from the Easter story that it was the women who first shared the news of Jesus’ resurrection. And here we see that it was both men and women gathering to pray and prepare after Jesus leaves. What do you think of the early followers and leaders of the Jesus movement?
