At Grace Reformed Baptist Church, our first love is to the head of the church, Christ Jesus. Because we have been saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, our desire is to be nourished by His Word, transformed into His likeness, and useful for the spread of the Gospel. We believe that God's Word is authoritative for every area of life. God's Word contains the blueprint for godly societies, gov

ernment, churches, and families. We believe that God’s Word is sufficient for teaching, edifying, reproof, evangelizing, and growing His church. Our desire is to see our community brought under the dominion of Christ (the King of Kings) through the gospel proclamation. We believe the gospel has the power to transform culture as individuals are transformed through the regenerating power of the Spirit. Our mission is to bring glory to God as we equip the saints for worship, service, and evangelism. Teaching Duties are currently being performed by Pastor Ben Gardner. We would love to have you and your family join us this Lord's Day as we corporately worship, grow, and pray together. We meet at 10 am each Sunday and 7 pm each Wednesday evening.

The minister's job is to speak the truth that turns people away from iniquity. Does your pastor teach truth that convicts and turns your heart from iniquity?

The Authority of God's Word

This Sunday, we begin our exposition of the book of Isaiah. Isaiah was not offering political opinions; he was called to declare the very words of the Almighty. The vision he received is not a suggestion—it is binding upon every generation that reads it. As we prepare our hearts for the Lord’s Day, let us remember that when God speaks, the only right response is humble submission. We are not gathering to hear a lecture; we are gathering to hear the voice of our Sovereign God. Read Isaiah 1:1 with your family this week and pray for open ears.

Deuteronomy 18 - The Ministers of God

In God's order, in God's way, the men of the tribe of Levi did not make their living by farming the land. They didn't plow fields or press grapes. Instead, God scattered them throughout the towns to be the guardians of the text and the teachers of His law. The life of the nation was absolutely dependent upon it.

This same order continues directly into the New Testament. What do we mean by this? We mean there is a division of labor in the kingdom of God. The pastor labors in the text so that the father can labor in his home, the mother can labor with her children, and the churchman can labor in his community. We do not hire a pastor to live the Christian life on our behalf. We support men in the pulpit so they can thoroughly equip the saints for the work of the ministry.

Deuteronomy 17 - The Law is King

In Deuteronomy 17, God gives requirements for the King. The King of Israel must follow these three commands:

⏺️don't build a strong military central government
⏺️don't build alliances with foreign nations through marriage
⏺️don't seek to get rich through the office
⏺️keep the word of God with him and read it daily

Deuteronomy 17 teaches us that the law is King. This means that the King is accountable to God and under His law.

In order to have a government that blesses the people, these principles still apply. The church has a responsibility
to vote for leaders who understand and promote these principles.

Deuteronomy 17 - Christ the King of Nations

Jesus Christ is not just the King of the church; He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He entered into this office at His ascension, when He was brought before the Ancient of Days and given an everlasting dominion over all peoples, nations, and languages. That means every ruler, every judge, and every chief magistrate in the world today is under the authority of Christ. They are commanded in Psalm 2 to serve the Lord with fear and to kiss the Son. We will only find true liberty and justice when our civil magistrates openly recognize Jesus Christ as their King and take an oath of submission to His reign

Deuteronomy 17 - God's Law Establishes Spheres of Authority

The fifth commandment teaches us that God ordains the different spheres of authority. Christians need to understand this principle, because anytime there is overreach there is either abuse or neglect or both. For example, God has placed children under the authority of the family not the church or government. Since the government has the power of the sword, they can abuse their power and take away God given rights if the Christian doesn't comply. This is why it is important that Christian elect civil officials who understand they are under the law of God.

Deuteronomy 17 - Take the Scriptures With You

The king of Israel was commanded to keep a copy of the law with him and read it all the days of his life. When he sat on his throne, the Word of God was to be right there beside him. As believers, we are made kings and priests to God. Do you have your Bible with you? Do you read it every day? It is through the daily reading of the Scriptures that the Holy Spirit works the fear of God into our souls. It is through the Word that we learn humility and integrity. Do not leave your Bible on the nightstand. Take the Scriptures with you, so that in every moment of decision, you can consult the wisdom of the living God.
