Click the link to watch: What is the land that God promised to Abraham? God promised him the land and he died having not yet received it. So how is this promise fulfilled? We consider how Scripture explains the answer to these questions.

Read our 3-part series on the important topic: Is God Still Giving New Revelation?

In our first two articles (“Miracles” and “Signs and Wonders of the Lie”) we considered the biblical warnings concerning false prophets, signs and wonders, and those who claim to receive new revelations from God.
The final article (“Forbidden to add to God’s Word”) brings the subject to its foundation: Is God’s Word complete? This article examines the many ways people add to or take away from God’s Word, and reminds us why we can—and must—rest confidently in the complete and sufficient Word of God.

Far too many confessing Christians today think nothing of walking in unrepentant sin— watching po*******hy, fornicating, taking God’s name in vain, cheating, lying, mistreating others, etc. They ignore God’s infallible word in which His will is clearly made known.

Yet, we cannot claim to love Christ while treating sin as a light or trivial matter. To make light of sin is to dishonor—even despise—our holy God and Christ’s perfect sacrifice for His people.

The Heidelberg Catechism reminds us in Lord's Day 2 that we know our sin and misery "out of the law of God." The law exposes our sin, leaving no room for us to minimize our disobedience.

But for the faithful believers who turn from their sin, the law becomes their guide for gratitude. As Lord's Day 32 (Q&A 86) states, Christ redeems and renews us so that "we may testify by the whole of our conduct our gratitude to God for His blessings, and that He may be praised by us."

True love for Jesus honors Him. Let us examine our hearts according to Scripture, repenting of any sins, living a life of holy gratitude today.
