Summer heat doesn’t affect everyone the same way, and extreme heat puts our most vulnerable neighbors at risk.

A broken AC, a home without shade, a night without relief can turn a heatwave into a crisis.

That’s why this season matters, and The Salvation Army Fort Myers is stepping in to offer shelter and support for neighbors who need help staying safe this summer. ☀️

Reach out locally if you need assistance or if you can lend a hand. ✨

We all need people who lift us up. Church is where we learn to do that together.

A place to grow, to be known, and to lift one another through every season.

At The Salvation Army Fort Myers, we’d love to welcome you this Sunday. Come as you are to our church, and leave encouraged.

There’s a place for you here. https://tinyurl.com/ftmeyersworship

🍩 The Salvation Army Lassies stepped onto the front lines of WWI with one mission: bring comfort where it was most needed.

A warm doughnut became a reminder that someone cared, and that one act of love has rippled through generations.

Today, hundreds of families across The Salvation Army Fort Myers find comfort, support, and hope through our summer camps, food pantries, corrections re-entry programs, and shelters.

🍩National Doughnut Day celebrates kindness that still changes lives.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:7

At The Salvation Army Fort Myers, we live that out every day, serving families in crisis, feeding neighbors who are hungry, and offering hope to anyone who needs a place to rest and rebuild.

Because love isn’t just something we feel, it’s something we do… together.

More than a century ago, the “Donut Lassies” entered the WWI huts with hands full of flour, sugar, and the honest intention to lift the spirits of the soldiers who were far from home. Against all odds, that small act of kindness made a lasting difference.

On June 7, 1938, The Salvation Army first celebrated National Doughnut Day as a fundraiser during the Great Depression to support families facing hardship. A wonderful act that mirrored and honored the legacy of those courageous women.

Today, at The Salvation Army Fort Myers, we carry this purpose forward each day, meeting local needs with love and compassion through our food pantries for the community and hot meals for those in our shelters.

A simple recipe in action.
A lasting impact.

Because from the very beginning, the first ingredient was love.

As we close out Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, The Salvation Army Fort Myers would like to take this moment to thank all of our AAPI neighbors and community members who dedicate their time to serving our mission.

This includes our staff, volunteers, donors, and church members across Fort Myers.

We are endlessly grateful for all of your meaningful service, and we can’t wait to see what we all do together in the year to come. ❤️

Did you know that The Salvation Army’s summer camps have been around almost as long as The Salvation Army itself?

The first official summer camp was the “Fresh Air Camp” in Kansas City, and the oldest existing camp was established in 1901 in Camp Lake, Wisconsin.

The rest has been history, serving children across the nation, including right here in Florida! We provide them a summer full of fresh air, sunshine, friendship, ministry, and character-building activities. ☀️

For some, it’s a simple act of kindness. For others, it’s a gift that helps provide meals, shelter, and hope for neighbors in need. However you choose to give, you can help out in Fort Myers.

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country. At The Salvation Army Fort Myers, every day we offer a range of support services for local veterans struggling to get by, including Pathway of Hope, which breaks the generational cycle of crisis by connecting them to resources and case management.

We forever recognize and commemorate the bravery of those who sacrifice their everyday lives and comforts for the greater good of America, and we strive to ensure that those who return home have the support and resources to build a thriving post-service future.

We honor you all.
