Why does a military focused Christian ministry teach a BBQ clinic?

In addition to being a ton of fun, BBQ is an excellent tool for creating fellowship. Weather that is inviting someone to smoke the meat with you, or just come over and enjoy a meal, BBQ allows you to slow down, relax, talk, and maybe go a little deeper.

It is also a great way to support support others! For the last few years, we have been developing the Idea of Food with Purpose. The idea is using the skills learned at Fort Leavenworth BBQ Bonanza to support other church, unit, or community causes. This pork is supporting the Fort Leavenworth CrossRoads Protestant Chapel’s family ministry night tonight. We have also been blessed to cook for an off post community mental health fair, and a widow’s group dinner. We continue to develop the idea and are looking for more ways to cook for our community.

Kicked off our Foundations of the Faith block of Discipleship Training Breakfast this morning with MAJ Jon Farwell leading a super discussion on the Attributes of God. We also had a wonderful time of prayer, worship, AND breakfast tacos. If you are in town on a Tuesday, drop in at 0600 in Pioneer Chapel.
