It has no affiliation with nor endorsement from Fort Leavenworth, the Department of Army or the Department of War. On October 4, 1992, students of the 1992-1993 U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officers Course (CGSOC) formed the then CPGS (FLGS); their desire was to collectively worship in the Gospel tradition. The goal of the students was to meet the needs of a richly diverse community consist
ing of CGSOC students, Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3) students, and permanent party military and civilian personnel. Maney, a student of the 1992-1993 CCGSOC class assumed the role as the first pastor of the Collective Protestant Gospel Service (CPGS). Under his and the succeeding pastoral leadership, the CPGS blossomed to form various outreach ministries in support of the many activities both on Fort Leavenworth and in the local community. The Collective Protestant Gospel Service name was changed in 2007 to the Fort Leavenworth Gospel Service (FLGS) and in 2020 to the Fort Leavenworth Multicultural Gospel Service (FLMGS). Services are held each Sunday beginning at 10:00 AM in Pioneer Chapel. The FLMGS is an open congregation that serves all who desire to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ both in Spirit and in Truth. The members of FLMGS encourage worshipers to maintain a strong personal relationship with Christ through spiritual reflection, religious education, and Christian fellowship. FLMGS meets the diverse needs of the Fort Leavenworth and the greater Leavenworth /Lansing communities through a variety of ministry programs and activities. FLMGS sponsors and/or supports special activities to include Military Day, marriage enrichment workshops, retreats, and more!
