Do you feel called to serve as a Lector at Mass?

The Lector Team of St. Joseph the Worker Parish warmly invites all Lectors and all those interested in becoming a Lector to an afternoon enrichment session on Sunday, September 13, from 2:00pm until 3:30pm in the Church. We’ll reflect upon the ways that Christ’s Incarnation grants dignity to the bodies and voices we use to Proclaim the Word of God. Fr. Michael Stumpf will speak to us about embodiment in liturgy and in our role as Lector, and the balance between silence and speaking in the liturgy. We’ll include time for prayerful reflection on the gifts of our voices and presence, the fullness of our ministry, and the ways our Proclamation can affect St. Joseph the Worker Parish in the future. We’ll also spend some time addressing practical issues within our parish building that affect our role as Lectors. Thank you to all the students who participated in our youth group this past year. The 2025-26 year included:
- A cookout for St. Lawrence
- Movie Night about St. Carlo Acutis
- Pizza and St. Padre Pio
- JP2 and being Magnanimous
- Assembling Epiphany Blessing Kits
- Mardi Gras
- Stuffing Easter Eggs
- A Night on St. Catherine of Siena
- Faith Afloat: an evening on the Gateway Clipper
- Attending the Steubenville Youth Conference

It was an exciting, fun filled year. We look forward to what 2026-27 has in store. Middle school and high school students are invited to join us as we kick off the new year on Sunday, August 16 from 7 - 8:30 PM in the SJW Youth Rooms.
