🌱✨ New Life in Our Community Garden! ✨🌱
Today we spotted our first baby squash/pumpkin growing in the JCPC Community Garden — a tiny reminder that big things begin small, and that God is always at work in quiet, steady ways.

In a world that can feel rushed and heavy, this little squash invites us to slow down and notice the goodness growing right in front of us. It’s a sign of hope, of nourishment, and of what happens when a community comes together to plant, tend, and believe.

May this small beginning encourage us all:
Growth takes time. Care matters. And even the smallest signs of life can brighten a whole day.

🌞 Join Us This Sunday at 10:30 AM!

As we head into the “unofficial last weekend of summer,” our focus scripture, Matthew 18:15–20, offers a step‑by‑step guide for navigating conflict within a community of believers. It reminds us that when we gather in Jesus’ name, he is truly with us.

We will also celebrate Communion together. As is our custom, you’re invited to bring non‑perishable food items for a local pantry. This month’s collection will support the Manna House, which is experiencing a dire need for basic staples. Baskets will be placed in front of the communion table. Please give as you are able.

We are delighted to welcome Becky Culbertson as our guest choir director and accompanist while Angel is away.

• Office Closed Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.
• Women’s Circle begins a new year of meetings this week — check the bulletin and newsletter for dates and times.
• Midweek Bible Study will complete the study of Acts on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:30 AM. Our new study on Romans begins September 16.
• Strengthening Families meets at JCPC on Wednesday, September 9. Volunteers are needed to help serve meals and assist with cleanup. Please speak with Thelma Hawkins if you can help.

🍎 FOOD DRIVE THIS SUNDAY! 💜

There is a dire need for pantry staples at Manna House as the need in our community continues to grow.

This Sunday, we invite you to bring a food offering with you to worship. Baskets will be available in front of the communion table to collect your donations.

Every can, box, and bag makes a difference. Together, we can help fill the shelves and ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need. 💜💚💛

What does it mean to say that the Bible is true?

Perhaps it means more than simply asking whether every story happened exactly as written. The Bible speaks to us in stories, poetry, parables, history, wisdom, and prophecy—but through all of it, we encounter a God who is still speaking.

The Bible invites us not only to read the stories, but to enter them. To wrestle with them. To find ourselves in them. And ultimately, to discover the living God who calls us to love, serve, forgive, and welcome.

At John Calvin Presbyterian Church, we believe faith is not about having every answer. It’s about being willing to ask the questions—and walking together as we seek God’s truth.

🎉 Everyone’s Birthday Party! 🎂

What a joyful celebration at John Calvin Presbyterian Church this past Sunday, August 30! We gathered to celebrate everyone’s birthday—with plenty of laughter, colorful party hats, games, treats, and wonderful fellowship. 🥳🎈

From the youngest to the young-at-heart, everyone joined in the fun. What a wonderful reminder that every person is worth celebrating! 💜💛💙💚

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. We’re already looking forward to the next celebration! 🎉

What does genuine love look like?

This Sunday, we’ll explore Romans 12:9–21, where Paul gives us a practical guide for what genuine Christian love looks like in everyday life — toward friends, strangers, and even our enemies.

We’ll see how love forgets itself, looks to Christ, and overflows with joy in Him as we meet the needs of others. Come worship with us and consider how God is calling each of us to live out a genuine love that reflects Christ.

Gather with Us — There’s a Place for You Here

We can’t wait to welcome you this Sunday at 10:30 AM as we wrap up our Family Reunion series with “Forgiveness in the Family.”
Joseph’s story in Genesis 45 shows us that God’s grace makes forgiveness possible — even when it feels impossible.

Here’s what’s happening at JCPC:
• Pastor Jen is serving in Louisville this week — Elder on Call Tom Hoffmeyer is available for pastoral needs
• Educational Building closed Aug. 24–25
• No Midweek Bible Study Aug. 26
