Today, St. Hedwig’s Parish in Floral Park became the home of the 47th annual Santo Niño celebration, organized by the Filipino Santo Niño community.
The Santo Niño devotion honors the Child Jesus and is one of the oldest and most beloved Christian traditions in the Philippines. It is a joyful expression of faith, gratitude, and trust in God’s loving care. Through prayer, music, dance, and procession, the faithful give thanks for blessings received and renew their commitment to follow Christ.
An important part of this celebration is the beautiful procession with the statue of the Santo Niño and the blessing of the statue. This devotion originated in Cebu, where the annual Santo Niño feast draws millions of pilgrims and is celebrated with great solemnity, joy, and devotion.
We are grateful to the Filipino community for sharing this rich spiritual and cultural tradition and for bringing the joy of the Child Jesus to our parish family. May the Santo Niño continue to bless all families with faith, hope, peace, and love.
