Farewell Bridal Party

June of 1957, The congregation had a Farewell Bridal Party for Intern Duane Tollefson and bride-to-be Donna. They received many generous gifts form our congregation. Rev. Duane Tollefson later returned to First Lutheran Church as senior pastor from November 1985-March 1998.

Remembering the Fallen

Orris Nate Norman was the son of Oscar and Myrtle Norman, a well known family of Fergus Falls and members of First Lutheran Church. Orris enlisted in the Navy in 1935 in Seattle Washington and reported for duty aboard the USS Utah on April 7, 1939. Orris was killed in action on December 7, 1941 during the attach on Pearl Harbor. He was awarded the Purple Heart and he remains on duty with his shipmates aboard the Utah. He is commemorated on the memorial Tablets of the Missing, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
