Almighty God we thank You for the precious gift of prayer and we ask that You guide us through Your Spirit in who/what we should pray for today. Let us not look unto self, but unto others as we come before You, believing until the end that You will hear and attend to prayers. Thank You in advance. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen!

Prayer Request
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.

Psalms 122:6-8, NKJV

Prayer is such an awesome tool give to us by God, but sadly we underutilize it. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing [Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NKJV)]…and far be it for any of us to go against the wishes of our Father, much less ignore the answers to the test. God desires more from us than simply murmuring, mumbling, and complaining about “it”; rather, He wants His own people to call upon Him…to place Him, His Word, and His Spirit into “it.” We can ill afford to remain idle while our houses, our families, our jobs, our cities are taken captive by the very forces the Lord released us from. Likewise we can ill afford to haphazardly pray to our God; instead we ought to be deliberate in our prayer…never worrying about the “how” or the “when”, but focusing on the “what.” We continuously see the “problem” yet look elsewhere to fix. However, God’s salvation provides physical representation of His glory to a lost and blind world. We must use our powerful tool of prayer as a surgeon uses his/her tools and instruments to discern, identify, diagnose, alleviate, and to repair; as a result, prayer cannot be random or haphazard, but must surgical in nature…hitting at the very core of the problem. Can we all agree that our world is in turmoil and in dire need of some peace? Can we then go into our tool bag, reach in and grab a measure of faith, along with our prayer, and go to work to discern, identify, diagnose, alleviate, and repair the fractured peace? Today let us use our best tools to surgically repair the problems of this world…then watch how the peace of God uplifts and provides unequivocal peace - And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace (Jeremiah 29:7, NKJV).

Tidbit: The correspondence between Isaiah's 66 chapters and the Bible's 66 books has fascinated scholars for centuries. Just as the Bible divides into 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books, Isaiah divides into two major sections: chapters 1–39 (39 chapters, dominated by law, judgment, and prophecy of coming exile — paralleling the OT's emphasis) and chapters 40–66 (27 chapters, dominated by comfort, redemption, and the coming Servant — paralleling the NT's emphasis). Isaiah 40 opens with "Comfort, comfort my people" just as the NT opens with the Gospel of grace. Isaiah 66 ends with a vision of the new creation just as Revelation 22 closes the NT. Whether intentional divine design or coincidence, Isaiah contains more direct quotations and references in the New Testament than any other Old Testament book — over 400 allusions — and Jesus launched His public ministry by reading from Isaiah 61 (Luke 4:18–19).
