Please join us Wednesday at 7:00 PM for Bible Study as we come together to know God in a more meaningfully way that we may come to trust and subsequently believe in Him. This is accomplished foremost by knowing, trusting, and believing in His Word: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV)

***Trivia Answer Below***
Biblical Studies
Question: How many lepers did Jesus heal at one time in Luke 17, and how many returned to give thanks?

Answer: 10 lepers were healed; only 1 returned to give thanks — Luke 17:12–17
Tidbit: Jesus healed all ten, but only one — a Samaritan, a social and religious outsider — turned back to glorify God. Jesus pointedly asked, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?" (Luke 17:17). The ratio of 1-in-10 returning to give thanks has been noted by preachers across centuries as a sobering commentary on human ingratitude. The healed Samaritan becomes one of Luke's recurring examples of how outsiders (Samaritans, Gentiles, the poor) often respond to grace more readily than religious insiders.

Resource: Luke 17:11–19 (NKJV); Luke by Darrell Bock (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the NT)

God's Not Done With You Yet!
…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ

Philippians 1:6, NKJV

Do you feel as though the walls surrounding you are caving in? Are you down to your last dime and feel as though you won’t make it to see another day? Are you so tired that you are beyond being “sick and tired”? Do you feel as though everything you encounter is working in concert to thwart what you are doing? Do feel as though you are waging a never ending battle? Do believe that your current story will never end and feel as though you have been abandoned…left alone to take on this world? Do you believe in God and the enabling grace afforded to you through Jesus Christ? If so then know that God’s not done with you yet - We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NKJV). Know that God’s mighty hand is upon you, and though you can’t discern this from that, God does have a plan for you [“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)] and that there is an expected end to your trials and tribulations - being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6, NKJV). Understand that God is the author of the beginning and the end of the story called you [“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last” (Revelations 22:12-13, NKJV)]…and while it might seem hopeless in this chapter, skip to the end to see the glory of His triumphant victory over the world and press on towards His glory - These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NKJV).

Today’s Prayer
Almighty God we thank You for lifting away every weight, every burden, and for providing rest for our weary bodies and souls. We are grateful for Your great grace and for enabling peace to enter into our lives. We are most grateful for Your love providing it all, and we know that without it, we would surely falter. We give You alone the glory, honor, and praise. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen!

Labor
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30, NKJV

We labor for many things for a multitude of reasons often leaving our lives littered and cluttered with anxiety and fear. Far too often we feel beat down and burdened by these endeavors almost to the point of exhaustion… worrying about the impact of today’s problems on tomorrow’s future. Unfortunately, we more often than not succumb to these fears/pressure instead of placing them before our Lord - Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30, NKJV). However, if we simply shift our mindset and focus our efforts on the Kingdom, will our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls not be collectively relieved of such heaviness - “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble (Matthew 6:31-34, NKJV). This change in mindset allows us to focus on the Father and the work He has placed before us, vice our own personal needs. It truly is about faith and trust in Him to provide the very tools required to sustain; however, God’s glory is manifested in such belief, that He provides seed to the sower and a bountiful harvest to all who labor for Him - And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God” (2 Corinthians 9:8-11, NKJV).
