10 Ways to Give a Talk That Rocks š¤š„
Whether youāre preaching a sermon, teaching a youth group, speaking at camp, or sharing the Gospel one-on-one, hereās something Iāve learned:
Great talks donāt start with great communication. They start with God.
Here are 10 principles I come back to every time I prepare to speak:
1ļøā£ Ask God for the right passage.
2ļøā£ Pray. Read. Study. Repeat until God gives you the āwow.ā
3ļøā£ Find the one big idea of the passage and word craft it until it catches the main point of the passage in a catchy way.
4ļøā£ Build a biblical, practical, memorable outline.
5ļøā£ Bring it to life with stories, illustrations, and application.
6ļøā£ Craft a strong introduction and a compelling conclusion.
7ļøā£ Pray through your message again before you speak.
8ļøā£ Practice out loud.
9ļøā£ Preach with passion and authenticity. Be yourself.
š Tie your shoes. The last thing I do before I preach is get down on my knees and ask God to fill me with his Holy Spirit while I am tying my shoes. This simple act is a good reminder that itās not about me, but Christās power through me.
Iāve discovered that the most powerful messages arenāt necessarily the most polished.
Theyāre the ones saturated with prayer, grounded in Scripture, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and aimed at life transformation.
As Paul wrote:
āPreach the Word; be prepared in season and out of seasonā¦ā ā 2 Timothy 4:2
If God has given you a platformāwhether itās a stage, a classroom, a campfire, or a conversationādonāt just communicate information.
Proclaim Godās truth and trust Him to change lives.
