John and his family will be stepping into a sabbatical this summer from June through August after 14 years of pastoral ministry and five years since Frontline began. This is an intentional season to slow down, seek the Lord, and be renewed as a family. We’re grateful for this gift of sabbatical and invite you to be praying for rest, renewal, and clarity for John and his family, and for our church as leadership continues to serve and lead faithfully this summer. Watch this video to hear Pastor Blake share the heart and vision behind this season. John will return to the normal rhythms of ministry in September.

In the closing of Galatians, Paul asks a powerful question: What are you boasting in? He shows how we often build our identity and worth on achievement, status, relationships, morality, or religious performance, but those things make terrible saviors because they cannot truly satisfy or sustain us. Instead, Paul says his only boast is the cross of Jesus Christ, because the cross is where our sin, shame, and striving are fully dealt with. The cross reveals both our need for grace and the depth of God’s love for sinners. Through Jesus, we are made new creations, no longer defined by performance but by His grace. Paul’s final plea is to stop trying to save ourselves and instead trust, rest, and boast in Christ alone, because only the cross can truly save, satisfy, and change us. At Frontline, we believe the church isn’t just a building or an event—it’s a community of people created by God to display His glory in the world. Those who trust in the finished work of Jesus are the church. As we see in Acts 2:42-47, we gather on Sundays to remember and be renewed in the Gospel, and we scatter into small groups that meet all over the area throughout the week. Small groups are gatherings of people who come together to be a faithfully present people who enjoy God, love people, and push back darkness.
