This Sunday is Worship & Waves — a family day to remember!

We'll kick things off with Sunday morning worship, then head to Detroit Lakes for a beach day filled with good food, good fun, and good people. Families will enjoy a potluck lunch together, an afternoon on the water, and a group dinner at Zorbaz to close out the day.

Weekly devotion from Pastor Laurie.

This week's devotion invites us to sit with a painting that stopped me in my tracks. Frank Wesley, a fifth-generation Methodist artist from India, painted ""The Forgiving Father"" in the 1950s while studying in Japan — and it is considered his great masterpiece. It depicts the moment from Luke's parable when the son who squandered everything is welcomed home by his loving father.

What strikes me is the detail: the father's hand resting in his son's hair, his furrowed brow visible over his son's shoulder. The son leans into the embrace, completely spent. If the father lets go, the boy will fall.

But there is another way to see this image. Jesuit priest Geoff Wheaton, after sitting with it for some time, began to see not the prodigal son — but Jesus, returning to his Father after the crucifixion, having given everything for our salvation. That shift in perspective helped him enter more deeply into the sacrifice of Christ. I hope it will do the same for you.

Happy Father's Day!

"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." — Joshua 24:15 (NRSV)

We celebrate every dad, grandpa, stepdad, and father figure who leads by example — showing the children in their lives what it looks like to put faith first. Thank you for the legacy you're building.

Weekly devotion from Pastor Laurie

Have you ever felt like God has forgotten you? You're not alone—even God's people in Isaiah's time felt that way. In this week's devotion, "A Startling Response," I explore Isaiah 49:13-16 and that remarkable image of God saying, "I have engraved you on the palms of my hands."

Human love can fail, but God's love never does. When life makes us feel forgotten, God points us to the wounded hands of Jesus and says, "Never."

This week's devotion also features Rembrandt's The Return of the Prodigal Son, a powerful depiction of a father's compassion for his returning son.

Many beloved hymns are sung from generation to generation: Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of Heav'n to Earth come down, Fix in us thy humble dwelling, All thy faithful mercies crown; Jesus, thou art all compassion, Pure, unbounded love thou art; Visit us with thy salvation, Enter ev'ry trembling heart.

This clip from The Hour of Worship in the mid 1980s, spliced together with today's service, is a reminder that the love of Christ transcends time and space, never failing and never ending ❤️
