I’ve been down in Oregon for the past few days. I had the opportunity to concelebrate the re-dedication of St. Joseph Church in Salem, OR on the 3rd anniversary of the fire that severely damaged the structure. It was an amazing celebration with overflow into the gym and parish hall.

I was also able to spend the day visiting our seminarian, Solomon Youngbird, at Mt. Angel Seminary. Solomon is in his first year of formation along with 32 other men!

Pray for the new novices for the Dominican Friars. Our own Michael Olsta, former director of the Faith and Family Formation Office, is in the center!

Our soon-to-be novices are here! On September 3 they will receive the Dominican habit, and they need your prayers! Sign up to be a Novice Prayer Partner and commit to praying for the novices on their day of vestition.

Novice Prayer Partners are the first to learn the novices' religious names and see the brothers in their habits through an exclusive email sent out after the private ceremony on September 3. They also have their names placed in the novitiate community to be prayed for throughout the year.

Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send more workers into the vineyard!

Despite efforts by the Trump administration to streamline religious worker visas, several dioceses say things have gotten more difficult over the past year.

I am happy to announce that Mr. Solomon Youngbird will be leaving for Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon to begin his Propaedeutic (Spirituality) year. Solomon is the son of Cheyenne and Jennifer Youngbird and is the oldest of 14 children. The family are parishioners of St. Nichols Church in North Pole. Please pray for Solomon as he deepens his discernment and call to the diocesan priesthood.

Continue to pray that the Lord of the harvest will send more workers into His vineyard.
