Hearty start to fall! September food drive for St. John’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry! Thank you for your donations! 🍂🥣🍁

With all of your wonderful donations we were able to deliver 9 boxes to Essex, Sussex and Deep Creek Elementary schools on August 24th. 🎒✏️📚

They included 42 new book bags, 1,500 pencils, 5,872 crayons, 4,400 sheets of loose leaf paper plus liquid and stick glue, pens, pencil cases, scissors, highlighters, rulers, erasers, spiral note books, marble composition books and a lot more! 📓📝

Susan would like to thank everyone who brought in school supplies or donated money so supplies could be bought. It was a huge success!! ✏️📕

Join us for Fall Gift Card Bingo!

St. John's Lutheran Church 518 Franklin Avenue Essex, MD 21221

Saturday, September 26, 2025 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Admission $20 per person, includes 20 games and one jackpot game. Jackpot game winner will receive a bountiful cash prize!

Hall where the bingo is held, is on the second floor of the parish hall. Steps are involved.

Additional bingo cards will be available for purchase at the door and food refreshments will be sold during the bingo.

50/50 tickets will be sold and the winning ticket will be drawn that evening. Lay down boards and raffle baskets will also be available during the bingo! We hope to see you there!

Friends for Supper will be held on Tuesday August 25, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In July we were blessed to serve 67 friends and neighbors. Volunteers are needed, please speak with Karen Leventis if you are willing to give of your time and talents.

Food Pantry: During the month of July we served 118 families. We are looking for volunteers to assist in the Food Pantry as the number of visitors is increasing greatly. We still have reuseable shopping totes for $6. The proceeds from this sale will go to support our food pantry and the ever-growing need of our neighbors. Please see Whitney Lhotsky for more information.

Feeding Ministry Needs: In an effort to serve our neighbors in need we will be collecting a second offering on August 30th (the LAST Sunday of each month) to go specifically to our feeding ministries.
