June 6, 2026 - Corpus Christi

Happy Solemnity of Corpus Christi!

I would like to first congratulate all the children and youth who received the sacrament of Confirmation this past week!
With the reception of this sacrament, which is a “personal Pentecost” and a sending of the Holy Spirit, you have become soldiers of Christ!

We have just begun the month of June, a time dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This past week we began our novena along with our nation in preparation for the consecration of the country and our parishes to Sacred Heart. You may be wondering, what is the importance of this devotion in our lives?

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is nothing other than devotion to the Person of Jesus Christ. His Sacred Heart is the symbol of His infinite love for each one of us –a divine and human love (Jesus is true God and true man!)– a love that was revealed to us when the soldier pierced Christ’s side on the cross and out flowed blood and water (see Jn 19:34), symbolizing the sacraments by which we receive God’s life
in our souls through the Church.

Many of you have received the image of the Sacred Heart to place in your homes. What does this mean? To enthrone the Sacred Heart in one’s home is for the family to proclaim that in this home, Jesus Christ is Lord, that He has absolute dominion. Because Christ is Lord, we as a family will strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ, to be meek and humble of heart, to practice the virtues, that is, to grow in holiness. A family who enthrones the Sacred Heart will strive to keep this fire of love burning in their hearts by frequenting the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion and by daily recitation of the Rosary where we meditate on the mysteries of Christ’s life.

What are some fruits of this devotion? Let us consider the twelve promises Our Lord Jesus made to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque for those who honor His Sacred Heart:

12 Promises of the Sacred Heart :

1) I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
2) I will establish peace in their families.
3) I will bless every home in which an image of My Heart is exposed and honored.
4) I will console them in all their difficulties. 5) I will be their refuge during life and especially at the hour of death.
6) I will shed abundant blessing upon all their undertakings.
7) Sinners shall find in My Heart a fountain
and boundless ocean of mercy.
8 ) Tepid souls shall become fervent.
9) Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great
perfection.
10) I will give to priests the power of touching the hardest hearts.
11) Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart never to be blotted out.
12) I promise you, in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all who communicate on the First Friday of the month for nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My displeasure nor without their last Sacraments: “My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”

A blessed Corpus Christi Sunday to you all!

Fr. Peter

Holy Land Artifacts …… Handmade olive wood religious articles will be available for purchase after all Masses in the Parish
Hall on June 6 and 7, 2026. Items will include Nativity sets, crucifixes, rosaries, statues, and many other devotional pieces.

Holy Land Artifacts represents more than 100 Christian families in Jerusalem and Bethlehem who rely on the sale of traditional olive wood carvings as their primary source of income. With tourism at
historic lows, these faithful families are experiencing significant hardship.

We warmly invite you to stop by the Hall to view the display and learn more about these beautiful, prayerfully handcrafted items. By purchasing one of these pieces, you are supporting Christian families in Jerusalem and helping to preserve the Christian presence in the land where our faith was born.

They accept credit cards, cash, and checks.

Please remember to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land.
