The American Legion came out today to pay tribute to the Spanish-American War veterans laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day. At the same time, our local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops participated in their annual tradition of placing flags on veteran graves.

Between Arlington and Elm Lawn, more than 600 flags were placed.

This year’s timing brought both groups together, allowing the Legion and Scouts to share in a powerful and meaningful act of remembrance and service.

Arlington's entrance is getting a refresh! We are taking our time and restoring our 100-year-old-plus gates.

With this restoration comes a little bit of dust... throughout the course of the next month-and-a-half you will notice a lot of activity while they are restored. Please be cautious and look for signs of closed lanes as they may be affected while they complete the project.

To help avoid any confusion, we recommend calling ahead before your visit so we can direct you to the appropriate office entrance. Please note that our public restrooms will be temporarily closed during this time.

Decorations are available! Honor your loved ones with a beautiful hanging basket. They will be placed on graves before Memorial Day and remain on the grounds through Sept. 30.

💐 Spring Cleanup Completed!

Our spring cleanup is now finished! Any remaining winter decorations have been removed, and you may start placing flowers and decorations again.

Please remember:
- Flower baskets go on shepherd hooks. Hook rental is included if flowers are purchased from Troost Cemeteries.
- Any other flower decorations are limited to existing reversible vases. No lanterns, glass, candles, etc.
- Decorations left outside of these guidelines may be removed for safety precautions.
