Today is the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

Saint John the Baptist, Precursor of the Lord, pray for us!

5 Facts About St. John the Baptist

1. He Was Chosen Before Birth
St. John the Baptist was chosen by God to prepare the way for Jesus even before he was born. The Angel Gabriel announced his birth to his father, Zechariah.

2. He Leaped in Elizabeth's Womb
When the Blessed Virgin Mary visited Elizabeth, the unborn John leaped for joy in his mother's womb at the presence of the unborn Jesus.

3. He Baptized Jesus in the Jordan River
St. John had the great privilege of baptizing Jesus, where the Holy Trinity was revealed: the Father's voice, the Son, and the Holy Spirit descending like a dove.

4. He Lived a Simple and Holy Life
John lived in the wilderness, wearing a garment of camel's hair and eating locusts and wild honey, dedicating his life to prayer and preaching repentance.

5. He Pointed Everyone to Christ
His mission was not to seek glory for himself but to lead people to Jesus. His famous words were: “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).

St. John the Baptist, pray for us.

On May 13th at the Pillar Revitalization Meeting for Blessed Family 7, Fr. Bryan told the over 60 people in attendance that in June announcements would be made about priests being moved to new assignments. He noted that there were 5 open positions (including Family Pastor/Administrators) in our diocese that needed to be filled.

Blessed Family 7 was blessed to have 5 priests for as long as we have. Sadly the future date of 2030 for our Family having 3 priests is upon us 4 years earlier than planned.

"Preach the Gospel at all times, if necessary use words" is a phrase attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. Our response to these changes is a reflection of our faith and our Christian community.

God, grant us the serenity
to accept the things we cannot change
the courage to change the things we can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time.
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, the sinful world as it is,
not as we would have it.
Trusting that he will make all things right
if we surrender to His will;
that we may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with Him forever.
Amen.

We hope you can join us to celebrate the priestly ministry of Fr. Sam Giangreco and Fr. Mark Itua this Sunday. Since both are leaving us at the same time, their celebrations are on the same date and two different parishes.

Since some have asked, as of July 1st:

Fr. Sam will be the Administrator of the Niagara Frontier Catholic Community in Lewiston, Youngstown and Ransomville.
Fr. Mark will be joining the priests of the Catholic Neighbors in Faith Community in Jamestown, Lakewood and Randolph.
