Berean,

Good afternoon! I hope you’ve had a blessed week in the Lord Jesus Christ, and I look forward to gathering on Sunday with you all. The following from our Directory for Worship reminds us how important and significant our gathering together for worship really is:

“A service of public worship is not merely a gathering of God’s children with each other, but before all else, a meeting of the triune God with His chosen people. God is present in public worship not only by virtue of the Divine omnipresence but, much more intimately, as the faithful covenant Savior.”

We will sing a new hymn this week following the sermon (172 Speak, O Lord). Here is a link to a rendition of that hymn if you wish to get acquainted with it before hand:

Berean,

As Sunday approaches, with our weekly duties and responsibilities pressing upon us, I hope these words from Psalm 65 will edify your soul,

“Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion, and to you shall vows be performed...Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!”

While the OT Temple is not directly equivalent to church buildings today, I think we can glean a sense of the blessing found in corporate worship as we gather as God’s people. I hope to see you Sunday!

The sermon will be preached from Ezekiel 33:12-20 and is entitled: “Repentance and New Obedience”

Announcements:

Men’s ministry will have its first meeting this Tuesday, March 10th at 7pm at the church. We will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Our study will focus on a new book, The Redeemed Man. We will cover the introduction and chapter 1 when we meet. All men are welcome!

Women’s ministry will meet this Wednesday March 11th at 7pm at the Church. All ladies are welcome!

Please mark your calendars—we will have our Maundy Thursday service on April 2nd during which we will observe the Lord’s Supper.

Memory verse:

Ephesians 2:8- “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God…”

Berean,

As we prepare for worship this coming Lord’s Day, I want to share two Scriptures. First, regarding our obligation to corporate worship,

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25, ESV)

Second, regarding our hearts and the manner of our worship,

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28-29, ESV)

I hope to see you this Sunday!

The sermon will be preached from Ezekiel 33:1011 and is entitled: “An Earnest Summons Unto Repentance”

Announcements:

Men’s ministry will have its first meeting on Tuesday March 10th at 7pm at the church. We will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Our study will focus on a new book, The Redeemed Man. We will cover the introduction and chapter 1 when we meet.

New March TableTalk Magazines are available on the table in the foyer. Be sure to grab your copy!

We will have our monthly fellowship meal this Sunday following the worship service.

Memory verse:

2 Timothy 4:2- “…preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
(Last Week)

Berean,

If next week is any indication, there is hope that Punxsutawney Phil was wrong! We may be thankful for the turn in weather even if it is only a temporary reprieve. In any case, we have much cause to worship the Lord of creation who is worthy of all honor, glory, power, and dominion. And I hope you will join us as we gather this Lord’s Day to worship Him.

Our closing hymn this week will be a new one to us. I am including a link so you can familiarize yourself with it before Sunday if you so choose.

Berean,

Good afternoon! As we prepare for worship on the Lord’s Day this Sunday, here is some food for thought from our Directory for Worship,

“The end of public worship is the glory of God. His people should engage in all its several parts with an eye single to His glory. Public worship has as its aim the building of Christ’s Church by the perfecting of the saints and the addition to its membership of such as are being saved—all to the glory of God.”

I hope to see you on Sunday!

The sermon will be preached from Ezekiel 31:1-18 and is entitled: “A Great Tree Cut Down”

Announcements:

The Women’s Ministry is throwing Mengmeng a baby shower at the church on tomorrow, Saturday February 7th at 10am. If you are bringing food to share at the shower, please have it at the church by 9:30am so everything can be set up for a prompt start at 10.

Berean,

I hope you have successfully dug yourself out from last week’s snow. By my very unofficial measuring, we received 12 inches at my home, but I know others of you received even more! In the kind providence of God, it seems that snow will not be an issue this Lord’s Day as we gather for worship. I hope to see you there as we join in sweet fellowship to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

The sermon will be preached from Ezekiel 30:1-26 and is entitled: “Alas for the Day!”

Announcements:

Reminder! Tomorrow evening is our annual congregational meeting. Dinner will be served at 6pm, and the “business” portion of the meeting will occur at 7pm. Non-members are welcome to attend for all parts of the meeting but cannot vote.

Berean,

Given the conditions brought on by the current storm, the Session has decided to cancel the worship service today. We know the Lord is sovereign and even this storm falls under His providence. We did not take this decision lightly given the importance of the Lord’s Day. While it’s always possible some may disagree with this decision, we do believe it is the right decision. With that said, I still want to encourage you to use the Lord’s Day well. To that end, I will share a few links to churches who will have livestream available for their services. I would encourage you to join one and to be fed on the Word. Have a blessed day, and I will look forward to seeing you next week for worship, Lord willing.

Berean,

I am writing to let you know that the Session has cancelled Sunday School for tomorrow morning. This action will give us more time to evaluate the situation with the weather as we consider whether or not to hold the worship service tomorrow. It also gives us time to clear off sidewalks if we do meet for worship. With that said, we have not yet made a call about the worship service at this time. We will make a decision about the worship service tomorrow morning by 9am at the latest, and we will send out our decision either way. Please be watching our various channels of communication. Have a blessed evening, everyone!

In Christ,

Pastor Cody

Berean,

As you are likely well aware, the weather forecast does not look good for our area this Sunday. The Session is monitoring the situation, and will continue to do so throughout the weekend. Please be checking your emails and/or our page to receive any notices about cancellations if it should come to that. Even if the weather is not so bad that we need to cancel service, please know that I and the other Elders want you to take your own safety into consideration. If you believe that the conditions are too unsafe for you to travel, we will understand entirely. Have a blessed weekend!

If we gather, the sermon will be preached from Ezekiel 30:1-26 and is entitled: “Alas for the Day!”

Announcements:

The Women’s Ministry is throwing Mengmeng a baby shower at the church on Saturday February 7th at 10am. Please join us as we bless this family as they await the arrival of their new little one!

We will hold our annual congregational meeting on Saturday January 31st. Dinner will be served at 6pm, and the “business” portion of the meeting will occur at 7pm to include reports on the budget and work of the church as well as a vote on the retention of Deacons and Elders whose terms are concluding.

We will still share our monthly fellowship meal on the first Sunday of February even though it is only one day after the congregational meeting.

We will observe the Lord’s Supper this Sunday during the worship service (if we gather).
