❤️ Pentecost Sunday | Memorial Day Weekend ❤️
On this Pentecost Sunday, the church was beautifully covered in red as we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit and honored the power, presence, and promise of God. As we also entered Memorial Day weekend, we paused to remember and honor those who sacrificed and served with courage and love for others.
📖 John 20:19–23
Theme: “What’s on the Inside?”
In this scripture, the disciples were gathered behind closed doors filled with fear and doubt after the crucifixion of Jesus. Yet even in their fear, Jesus showed up in the room and spoke, “Peace be unto you.” He reminded them that they were not alone and then breathed on them, saying, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost.”
This passage teaches us that what is inside of us matters. Fear and doubt can keep us locked away spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. But God does not want us operating only in our own strength. He gives us what we need through His Spirit.
Pastor reminded us of God’s four elements: ✨ His Presence – God shows up even when we are afraid.
✨ His Peace – He calms troubled hearts and minds.
✨ His Pursuit – God never stops seeking His people.
✨ His Power – The Holy Ghost strengthens and equips us.
The ball illustration reminded us that a ball only has movement and power when force is applied. In the same way, when God breathes His Spirit into us, He throws us back into the game with renewed strength, purpose, and direction.
You have power when you activate the Holy Ghost.
You have purpose when God is on the inside.
What a powerful Pentecost Sunday as we worshipped in red, honored those remembered during Memorial Day, and celebrated the power of the Holy Spirit moving through God’s people.
