Pride is so dangerous because it can convince you that everyone else needs correction while you need none.

And I think that’s one of the hardest things about pride…it’s often much easier to recognize in someone else than in ourselves.👀

We hear a sermon and immediately think of who ELSE needs to hear it.

We read a verse and think about who ELSE needs to apply it.

We see someone’s behavior clearly while remaining completely unaware of what God may be trying to reveal in our own hearts!

We can even become so familiar with Scripture that instead of approaching it asking, “Lord, what do You want to teach me?” we approach it thinking we already know.😬

That’s why the prayer in Psalm 139:23–24 is so powerful:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…”

Me.🤲

There’s humility in remaining teachable. In realizing that no matter how long we’ve followed Jesus, how much Scripture we know, or how much we’ve grown, God is STILL sanctifying us.

I don’t want to read His Word only looking for confirmation of what I already believe or correction for someone else…

👉 I want to open it willing to be changed by it.

Lord, never let me become so familiar with Your truth that I stop letting it examine me.
Keep my heart teachable.
Keep shaping me.
Start with me. 🤎🙏✝️
