Sunday School classes will begin next Sunday, September 13th.
We are excited to kick off another year with our youth! Our greatest need this year is for parents or volunteers to help lead our weekly faith lessons. Our lessons are simple, well-prepared, and designed so anyone can lead them. You won’t be expected to do it alone! There are many ways to volunteer (providing snack, helping with craft or music, assisting with the lesson, helping with cleanup). Your willingness to serve not only blesses every child, but it also shows your own child that growing in faith is something that we do together as a community. Please reach out to Kayla or Nichole to learn more and ask questions. Many hands make light work!

Confirmation classes will be held cooperatively with Calmar and
Springfield Lutheran Churches. If you have a 7th or 8th grade
student, please contact Pastor Beth. We will kick off the year with
Rally Wednesday on September 9th at Calmar Lutheran Church
with a pancake supper at 6:00 pm. A parent meeting and
introductions will follow at 6:30 pm. Confirmation classes will
officially begin on September 16th and be held each Wednesday
evening at Calmar Lutheran Church.

and the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis!

All ladies are invited to the Upper Iowa River Cluster D Fall
Gathering on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The theme is “FOR
GOD AND COUNTRY.” The gathering will be held at Springfield
Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Coffee starts at 8:30 am and the
Gathering at 9:00 am. The church address is 1969 Middle Calmar
Road, Decorah, Iowa. Our speaker is Deana Hageman, RSVP
Director.

The NEIA Women of the ELCA are hosting a Fall Field Trip on Saturday, October 17, 2026. There is a flyer on the church bulletin board with more details. Anyone can come! RSVPs are due by October 1st.

Dear Friends,

Please see the September edition of Where the Waters Meet, our monthly letter. It is attached as a PDF, but you can also view the individual pages as images below.
What a wonderful time we had at SCUBA VBS in August, with 18 youth joining us for three days of learning, creating, singing, playing, and growing in faith together! Thank you to everyone who helped make those days possible.
As we head into September, there are more opportunities to gather with one another and with our neighbors. Sunday school and Confirmation start this month, and so does the Jordan Project! Neighbors in Faith Fest is September 19 in Calmar, and I’ll be sharing a little of my own faith journey between the bands. I would love to see some familiar faces there!
We’re also beginning to plan for the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, June 28–July 2. If you have a youth entering 8th–12th grade this school year who might be interested, please let me know. Some information is in the newsletter, but you can also visit https://www.elca.org/gathering to find out more. I’m happy to answer any questions you or your youth might have as you consider whether the Gathering might be a good fit!

Congratulations to Pastor Beth Hurt (L) who was installed at a service this afternoon at Ossian Lutheran Church. Pastor Beth has been called to serve both Ossian Lutheran and St. Peter Lutheran, Eldorado. Presiding Minister was Rev. Kristen Corr Rod (R) of the NE Synod of the ELCA. Welcome Pastor Beth!!

Attention All Members and Friends of the Church! You are joyfully invited to Pastor Beth's installation. It is coming up soon so get this on your calendar! Here are a few of the details: On Sunday, August 30th, we will gather at Ossian Lutheran Church in conjunction with St Peter Lutheran Eldorado. At 12 noon, all will enjoy a meal together. The meal will be catered by West Union Event Center. The Installation Worship will begin at 1:30 pm with Holy Communion lead by Rev. Steve Brackett. This will be a service of Thanksgiving as we commit to ministry together with special readings and music. At 2:45 pm, there will be coffee, punch and cake refreshments and good conversation. Come and celebrate the shared ministry to which God has called us. We are blessed to add this celebration to our history!
