Our office is closed today to commemorate Juneteenth.

This week, JAM campers learned the Bible story of the unjust judge who used power to keep justice from the community...and the widow who was persistent in seeking justice. Then, campers designed their own protest signs about using their voices for justice for a mini-protest outside. Be persistent; Keep telling the story!

There may have been 43 JAM Campers this week, but there were also FIFTEEN middle school Youth Leaders. These leaders rose to every challenge, tirelessly setting up and taking down, creatively earning the trust of each camper, and stepping up with true responsibility to care for the campers. Thank you, Youth Leaders!!

We invite you to join us in this prayer as we remember the Emmanuel Nine and commit to education and action for anti-racism in our Church.

The ELCA marks June 17 as the feast of the Emanuel Nine, martyrs. They were murdered in cold blood by a Lutheran and self-professed white supremacist after they had welcomed him into their Bible study.

We mourn the loss of these nine souls. We confess our complicity in the systems and ideologies that allowed the killer to commit this act.

This litany of confession is adapted from the work of Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown in the African Descent Lutheran Association report from 2022:https://elcamediaresources.blob.core.windows.net/cdn/wp-content/uploads/African_Descent_Ministries_Annual_Report_2022.pdf
