I couldn't pass this up. It's early morning Sunday at Casa Rister and I am doing my devotion time. Today's reflection is on joy. I would like to share with you, in lieu of a sermon if I may, a small portion of my devotion.
The Lord Himself is the source of true joy. The more you love Him, know Him, walk with Him, and become like Him, the greater the joy in your life will be. Even times of discipline can be considered joyful because you know that God loves you enough to correct you.
Job says it best in Job 5:17 ' Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.' (NIV)
It never feels good to be corrected. The more public, the worse it feels. But when we are focused on living according to God's will, we can take those times of correction and use them as building blocks to build upon. Church, our path in this world is sometimes hard to travel and we need all the help we can get. Those corrections that God is giving you are aids to help you along your way to keep your path straight. Your challenge for this week: when the correction comes, take a few minutes and press pause for a few minutes. Don't react, just breathe and remember that God loves you enough to help you get back on track and then choose your actions.
There is your half dollar sermon today. Be blessed and safe and remember God loves you! If you wouldn't mind, could you reply with an 'Amen' ? Just so I know who the early riders are.... lol
