Happy Father’s Day!

Today we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, spiritual fathers, mentors, and men who have faithfully poured themselves into the next generation. While much of what they do may go unnoticed, their impact reaches further than they may ever realize.

A father’s work is often built in the everyday moments, through prayers whispered over their children, lessons taught around the dinner table, sacrifices made behind the scenes, and a steady example of what it looks like to follow Jesus. The world often celebrates immediate results, but God frequently works through generations.

Many of the greatest things God accomplished in Scripture were built by people who never fully saw the finished outcome. Yet their faithfulness helped prepare the way for what came next. In the same way, every act of obedience, every moment of leadership, and every seed of faith planted today has the potential to impact generations to come.

To every father and father figure in our church family: thank you. Thank you for loving well, leading faithfully, serving selflessly, and pointing others toward Christ. Your work matters, your faithfulness matters, and the legacy you are building matters.

“One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

Growth happens in proximity.

There are things God teaches us in secret with Him.
And there are things He teaches us through people.

Discipleship isn’t just transferring information, it’s sharing life.

Someone walked with you.
Prayed for you.
Encouraged you.
Corrected you.
Pointed you back to Jesus.

Now it’s your turn to do the same for someone else.

The Kingdom moves forward when disciples make disciples.

If you need encouragement today, remember this: God is not finished with your story. Keep showing up. Keep trusting Him. Keep saying yes to whatever He is asking of you.

The world is desperate for hope.
Not more noise. Not more opinions.
Hope.

The beautiful thing is that Jesus never asked us to have all the answers. He simply asked us to be available.

Maybe this week looks like slowing down long enough to really listen.
Maybe it looks like asking a deeper question.
Maybe it looks like sharing a meal, praying for a friend, inviting someone to church, or having a conversation you have been putting off.

Philip didn’t know the whole plan. He just said yes to the next step God put in front of him. What if the people God wants to reach are already in your everyday life?

Your neighbor.
Your coworker.
Your friend.
Your family member.

The Great Commission isn’t just for pastors, missionaries, or Bible experts. It’s for all of us.

So as we step into a new week, let’s pray:
“Jesus, my life is available to You today.”

Parents, summer plans just got easier.

We have some fun things happening for kids at The River Church. Wednesday Kids, Friday Fun, and this Friday is a Kids Circus Night Out are all created to give children a safe place to have fun, make friends, and grow in their faith.

This Sunday marked a significant moment in the life of our church as we officially commissioned Josh Godfrey as the new Youth Pastor of The River Church.

There are moments when God begins something new, and there are moments when the church has the privilege of recognizing what He has already been doing all along. This felt like one of those moments.

Over the years, we have watched the Lord form and shape Josh through faithfulness, service, leadership, and a genuine love for the next generation. What began as a willingness to say yes to God has continued to grow into a calling that is evident to those who know him and have served alongside him. We believe this appointment is not simply about stepping into a position, but about stepping into a season the Lord has been preparing him for.

One of the greatest privileges of church leadership is getting a front row seat to the work of God in people’s lives. We have seen Josh lead with humility, pursue the presence of God, care deeply for students, and continually make room for the Holy Spirit to move. As a leadership team, we have sensed the Lord’s hand on this transition and believe this is the right time for this next step.

This Sunday, our students and youth leaders gathered around Josh, laid hands on him, and prayed over him. It was a beautiful picture of family, blessing, and commissioning. We were reminded that ministry was never meant to be carried alone. God calls people into assignment, and the Church has the privilege of surrounding them with encouragement, prayer, and support.

Josh, we are incredibly grateful for you and your family. Thank you for your faithfulness to this house, your investment in the next generation, and your continued yes to whatever the Lord asks of you.

Church family, would you join us in praying for Josh, our youth leaders, and every student who walks through our doors? We believe God is moving in this generation, and we are expectant for all that He has in store for this next season of Roots Youth.

Youth Camp is almost here, and as a church family we’re asking you to join us in prayer. 🙏

Pray for students to encounter Jesus in a fresh way, for lives to be transformed, for meaningful friendships to be built, for leaders to have wisdom and strength, and for God to move powerfully throughout the week. We believe camp is more than just games and memories. It’s an opportunity for students to hear God’s voice, grow in their faith, and experience the presence of God in a powerful way.

If you would like to help send a student to camp, there is still time to give toward our camp fund or sponsor a student. Every gift helps make it possible for a young person to experience what God can do during this week.

🎪 Also, don’t forget about our Kids Circus Night Out this Friday, June 12! This fun evening helps raise funds to get our students to camp. Bring your kids, enjoy a night out, and help invest in the next generation.
