Being a Welcoming Parish
God creates each of us just as he wants us to be, with special and unique gifts to share with others. Yet, sometimes we fail to create a supportive, welcoming, and accepting atmosphere for those with needs that differ from ours. Look around for fresh ways to ensure that every beloved child of God feels welcomed, cherished, and included in our parish community!

Father. Son. Holy Spirit.
Eternally distinct. Eternally one. Eternally pouring themselves out in love for one another, and for us.

The Most Holy Trinity - May 31, 2026
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son." (John 3:16) The Trinity’s love calls each of us to respond generously, offering our lives in service and fidelity. In priesthood, this gift is lived out daily through the sacraments, pastoral care, and witnessing Christ’s love to the world. Might God be inviting you to follow this path? Talk to your priest or reach out to the Vocation Office at [email protected].

In 1975 St. Paul VI gave the Church this line:
"Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses."
You don't have to argue your way to evangelization. You have to live your way there.

Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by.
"Jesus, son of David, have pity on me!" The crowd told him to be quiet. Jesus stopped, and asked the question: "What do you want me to do for you?"

Three words came back: "Master, I want to see."
He could have asked for healing of his eyes specifically. But, he asked for sight.

Christ asks the same question of you today.

Most of us do not know how to answer. We have grown so used to our blindness that the question feels too large.
Start with Bartimaeus's three words. Master, I want to see.

In 596, Pope Gregory the Great sent forty Benedictine monks to evangelize a remote pagan island at the edge of the known world: Britain.
Halfway there, terrified of what awaited them, the monks turned back and begged the Pope to release them. He refused.
Their leader, Augustine, eventually landed in Kent, met King Æthelberht under an oak tree, and within a year baptized the king himself. He became the first Archbishop of Canterbury.
Every Christian community in the British Isles traces back to that frightened band of monks who almost gave up.
