Today is the National Day of Prayer. What a reminder that prayer isn't meant to be a last resort, It's meant to be a daily rhythm for the people of God.

As a church, we’re in the middle of our 10/30 Challenge. 10 minutes a day in prayer and the Word for 30 days, intentionally making room to meet with God.

If we want to see God move in our homes, our church, and our community, it starts by seeking Him consistently.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

Let’s be a people who pray.

As I was thinking about PC’s 10/30 challenge (10 minutes of Bible/prayer for 30 days), I kept coming back to the old hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer”

That word privilege stands out to me. Prayer isn’t just a magic lamp to get what we want. Prayer is something we have been invited into. Because of the cross, we are not outsiders trying to get God’s attention. We are sons and daughters who have direct access to Him.

The hymn keeps going:
“Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”

How often is that true? Not because God is distant, but because we forget how near He actually is. We carry things we were never meant to carry. We try to handle life on our own when we have been given an open door to the presence of God.

This challenge is simple on purpose. Ten minutes. That is it. But it isn’t about checking a box. It’s about fulfilling the purpose of the cross, and living out that relationship with God. Opening His Word. Talking to Him. Listening.

“Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer”

That is the invitation.

Let’s not miss what we have been given. Let’s be a people who actually take it to the Lord in prayer.
