Applying Our Faith Part 1
How do you exercise or perform faith in your life? Well, there are some important ways. When you really believe something, it changes what you do--how you approach what is going on in your life. When we are in faith, we are moving in a mode that is unseen in the natural realm. It is spirit.
Real Bible faith is of the heart. Though our mental faculties are involved, faith is proceeding from our soul (spirit). Kenneth E. Hagin said that it’s possible to have faith in your heart and doubt in your head at the same time.
But, I would emphasize here, the doubt thoughts we may find in our head must be dealt with by the faith in our heart! If we want to see God’s results, that is! We have to dominate the doubt and we must deal with them through faith! All the doubts of the Word of God have to be cast out. They are not for our good!
They are designed to short circuit our faith! We must have a tenacious and stubborn spirit within us. Not to be moved off of the truth of God’s word. We’ve got to be like a dog who got hold of a good juicy bone! Just be stubborn and determined not to let go of the good thing we have found! No matter who or what is trying to get it away from us!
But, we should also know how to act upon the faith we have in our heart. We have studied. We have meditated in the word of truth. We are solid on what God has said. No doubt inside anymore. What do you do?
Well, no matter how much you believe something from God inside, you have to act upon it! Or, it is not going to come to pass. There is 2 sides to this: God’s and ours. God’s is complete, ours must be done to complete the circuit, so to speak. Faith is where the connection plugs in to the unlimited power and wisdom of God! Through our believing. Not according to what God CAN do!
So, how do we act? First of all, we act like the Word we are standing on is true! And, of course it is. We have arrived there in our belief. And, so we have changed our forecast by what God has said. We agree with Him!
If we have been sick, we ARE getting better! How do we know that? Because of our faith in what God has said! Because, of what we believe in our heart. And, our whole future can be changed if we will act upon His word in our heart.
We speak! We say certain things. We declare the truth of God’s word in our heart with our own words. We agree with God! So, one way we act upon the truth of God’s word in our heart is, we say it! Speaking in faith is doing the word of God. Even when things appear to be going another way! Especially then!
Speaking is action in the spirit. Our words reflect what is coming out of our heart! Faith filled words! It is acting upon our own belief in what God has said about our situation. If you believe it’s God’s will for you to be healed of that attack on your body, you should be saying some stuff that is in your heart!
When it comes to physical healing by faith in the word of God, there are at least 2 primary speaking ways to act on the Word. Through speaking to the mountain, and through prayer to the Father. Both have the same faith working in our heart! It’s the faith in our heart that makes the difference! Otherwise, we are speaking and praying empty words with no substance!
In Mark chapter 11 in the Bible, we read the account of Jesus passing by the fig tree. I call it, the fig tree incident. Here in Mark 11, and the other account of this incident found in Matthew 21, we see Jesus approach a fig tree to pick some figs off of it to eat. It looked to Jesus that it should have had figs--but it didn’t! A deceptive tree!
So he said to the tree, no one would eat of that tree again. Please read and study these important chapters. Jesus spoke words to a tree! Then, He and the disciples walked off. The next day they were walking back the same route they had come before. When they got to the fig tree, Peter spoke up and remarked to Jesus, the tree that you cursed, how quickly it withered away.
And, the scriptures reveal that it was withered up from the roots. They did not see anything different the day before. The tree looked the same when they left as when they first approached it. But, underneath the ground, the faith spoken out by the words of Jesus was surely working! And, He expressed His faith in His heart with His words.
We see that after Peter made these remarks the next day, Jesus began to teach the disciples AND us about faith and how to release the faith that is in our heart. In Mark 11:22-24, Jesus gives us the directions to the laws of faith in God. How do you apply faith to your situation? Jesus shows us and explains it to us.” KF KenFletcher.org
