Do You Worship Idols?

1 Corinthians 10:12-14 (AMP)
"Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]. No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul]."

Worshipping an idol doesn't just mean bowing down to or praying to a statue or a false god. An idol is ANY THING you must check with before you obey God... ANY THING you value more than your relationship with God... ANY THING that comes between you and God.

In the famous words of Billy Graham, "We have gods today. Our gods are not made of marble and of wood but are chrome-plated and modern. Fashion, fortune, ease, ambition, self-seeking, entertainment ... These are our gods."

If ANY THING has replaced the one true God in importance in your life, it is easy to get back on track.

First, decide that you want to put God first. Then, pray this simple prayer:

"Dear God, take away the idols in my life so that, completely undivided, I may serve You. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen."

Finally, expect God to guide you as you follow Him and put Him first.

God Is the Source of Your FAITH, but You Are in Charge of It
by Calvin Scott, from the bulletin archives, September 7, 2008

Good Morning Faith Ministries Family:

That greeting sounds like a popular TV show. Where is my megaphone?

Here is a nugget of truth for you: God is the source of your FAITH, but you are in charge of it.

So, we must ask what we are to do with it. Answer? Use it, exercise it, share it, develop it, ... by reading the Word, hearing the Word, believing the Word, sharing the Word, and doing the Word.

Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without FAITH it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

So... Our having FAITH and living in faith does please God, and if there is anyone we want to please, it is God!

Have a great FAITH-filled, God-pleasing day!

Editor’s Note:

Read Your Bible and Increase Your Faith

Kenneth Hagin once said: "If God demands that we have faith when it is impossible for us to have faith, then we have a right to challenge His justice. But if He places within our hands the means whereby faith can be produced, then the responsibility rests with us regarding whether we have faith.

God has told us that without faith it is impossible to please Him, but He has also told us how to obtain faith. He has told us how faith comes. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

If we don't have faith, it is not God's fault. To blame God for our lack of faith is nothing but ignorance. God has provided the way whereby everyone can have faith."

You Call Me Up Upon the Waters
by Pahola Rojo

One of the songs that has ministered to me most over the years is "Oceans" by Hillsong UNITED. There is one line that has stayed with me through every season:

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand

Last month, on the fourth day of our mission trip, before heading to the closing VBS ceremony, we stopped at the Mayo River. As soon as we arrived, our General, Pastor Barbara Scott, stepped out of the pickup truck and, without a moment of hesitation, walked straight into the river. She didn't stop to think about getting her shoes wet or dirtying her clothes. She simply walked in.

Watching that simple moment spoke to my heart more than she probably realizes. I immediately began thinking of all the reasons I shouldn't go into the water. It was inconvenient. My shoes would get soaked. I hadn't planned on it. My mind was full of excuses. Isn't that often how we respond when God calls us?

Sometimes His invitation leads us into places that are unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and beyond our control. We hesitate because we want certainty before obedience. We want to know how everything will turn out before taking the first step. But faith has never been about having all the answers. Faith is choosing obedience even when our feet may fail.

I couldn't help but wonder how many incredible things God is ready to do in and through our lives if we would simply stop standing at the riverbank and step into the water. The greatest miracles are rarely found where it is comfortable. They are found where obedience begins.

As we continue serving throughout these Mayo communities, my prayer is that we would become people who don't measure the cost of wet shoes or uncertain waters, but who trust the One who calls us. Because when He calls, He also goes with us. And when the oceans rise, we can rest in His embrace, knowing that we are His, and He is ours.

Thank you, Pastor Barbara, for letting me be part of the beautiful vision God has given you!

Your Choice
by Barbara Scott

Greetings in the name of Jesus to our Faith Ministries readers.

God told His people, speaking through Moses, in Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (ERV), "Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. And I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses of your choice. You can choose life or death. The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life! Then you and your children will live. You must love the Lord your God and obey Him. Never leave Him, because He is your life. And He will give you a long life in the land that He, the Lord, promised to give to your ancestors--Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

The Kingdom of God is the life (blessing) side, and the Kingdom of Darkness is the death (curse) side. You can't live on both sides. You are under the jurisdiction of whatever side you are on.

That’s why it is so important to be quick to repent if you are in sin and get back on the blessing side of life.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT) tells us, "No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us."

We can't move forward until we let go of the past. Let go of hurt, despair, resentment, care, heaviness, and strife.

Quit looking back to the good ole days (or bad). You must let go to get into the flow of what the Spirit of the Lord is doing right now.

If you M O V E with the Spirit, He will take you to new victories and glory.

In John 6:63, Jesus said, "The words that I speak to you are spirit and life," so when we speak God's Word, we are imparting life into whatever situation we are addressing.

In Proverbs 18:21, we are told that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." There is tremendous power in the spoken word!

In Genesis chapter one, the world was created by what God said. In Ezekiel 37:10, the dead dry bones lived because he prophesied life to them.

Prophecy is God speaking supernaturally through man. I Corinthians 14:1 tells us to, "pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy."

Prophetic declaration, according to the will of God, touches the spiritual realm, which then consequently effects change in the natural realm.

Are we in agreement with the Word of God and declaring prophetically?

~ As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord!
~ As for me and my nation, we shall serve the Lord!
~ I am healed by the stripes of Jesus!
~ God meets all my needs according to His riches in glory!
~ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

In the Rieu translation, Matthew 18:18-19 declares, "Here’s a part of the believer's inheritance: Whatever you forbid, I'll forbid. All of heaven stands at attention ready to back you up. But if you allow it, I have to allow it. Whatever decision you make, I'll back you up."

Terrific power is given to the believer who honors Jesus' name by exercising the spiritual energies within it (in other words, releasing our faith). So let's set our lives and futures in order by choosing life and prophetically speaking in agreement with all that pertains to life.

Only One Life

Teach us to use wisely all the time we have. Psalm 90:12 (CEV)

Charles Thomas (CT) Studd (1860-1931) was a famous British cricket player who left sports, wealth, and fame to become a pioneering missionary in China, India, and Africa.

During a revival in 1877, he and two of his brothers converted to Christianity. In 1884, at the height of his sports career, Studd decided his athletic career was spiritually empty. He gave away his entire inheritance to various charities and joined a group of young, elite British men who became missionaries to China and were known as the "Cambridge Seven".

He founded Worldwide Evangelization Crusade International, an organization that to this day actively works to see Christ known, loved, and worshipped by the unreached peoples of the world. Studd never retired from his work for the Lord.

He wrote the poem behind the famous saying, "Only one life, will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."

ONLY ONE LIFE
by C.T. Studd

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in 'that day' my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgment seat;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice,
Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave,
And to God's holy will to cleave;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its days I must fulfill,
Living for self or in His will;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say, "Thy will be done";
And when at last I'll hear the call,
I know I'll say 'twas worth it all";
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.
