Back to School with the Holy Family

Holy Family of Nazareth—Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,

watch over us as we begin this new school year.
Bless our students with curiosity and wisdom,
our teachers with patience and dedication,
and all who serve in our schools with strength and joy.

Help us to grow in knowledge,
to seek what is true,
to do what is right,
and to love one another each day.

Protect us on our way,
keep us safe in all we do,
and lead us always closer to your Son, Jesus Christ.

Today the Church celebrates St. Dominic.

Born in Spain around 1170, Dominic became a priest and preacher at a time of deep religious confusion and division. He founded the Order of Preachers — the Dominicans — convinced that the Gospel must be proclaimed with both truth and charity.

He was a man of intense prayer, remembered as someone who spoke either to God or about God.

More than 800 years later, his example remains wonderfully simple: know your faith, live it deeply, and share it with love.

St. Dominic, pray for us.

Last Saturday, August 1, the Archdiocese of San Antonio welcomed 10 new seminarians during the “Here I Am” Mass at San Fernando Cathedral.

As they begin the Propaedeutic Stage of formation and discernment for the priesthood, we give thanks to God for their generous “yes” and entrust them to the prayers of our parish community.

May the Lord strengthen them, guide them, and give us many holy vocations to the priesthood.

Please keep our new seminarians in your prayers! 🙏
