Denver Community Church As Denver Community Church, we explore and participate in the life of Jesus, so that we can be a healing presence in our world.

Location:
1595 Pearl St., Denver, CO 80203 As Denver Community Church, we are a courageous community of lifelong learners rooted in God’s love for us, and we find joy in discovering the depths of God’s heart alongside others. As participants in the expansive story of Jesus, we are transformed through the practice of compassion and generosity. We do this with whoever will come, growing alongside one another and helping each other along life’s journey.

Last week, our Elders, Deacons, and Staff spent three days together for our EDS Retreat. During our time away, we shared meals, encouraged and affirmed one another, participated in spiritual formation sessions, laughed often, and built deeper connections as a team.
We are so grateful for this time of rest, renewal, and community, and for the opportunity to grow together in meaningful ways.

Today we got to pray over Joel Carlman, our Outreach Pastor and Director of Project Renew, as we send him off on his sabbatical.

For DCC, a sabbatical is a time for staff members to take a break from all responsibilities at DCC to pursue renewal through rest, soul care, reflection, professional education, recreation, deepening their spiritual life and strengthening their family relationships. The hope with every sabbatical is they will result in the staff member returning to their responsibilities with renewed focus and energy to fulfill God’s calling for the next season.

Please join us in prayer for Joel and his family as they embark on this season!

April Staff Book Recommendation!
Did you know we’re sharing staff book picks all year long? We’re excited to keep this series going! This month, our Gathering Coordinator, Avery, is recommending The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker.
Avery shares:
“I read this book at a time when all I wanted was a real community—not just friends to have fun with, but people to share the harder parts of life with, too. This book encouraged me to be vulnerable and make space for what I really wanted, not just what I thought others would like. Priya Parker is an incredible Instagram follow, too! I would be thrilled to give you a copy and discuss your thoughts as you read.”
Whether you’re craving deeper community or looking to create more meaningful spaces for connection, this is a thoughtful and impactful read.
