This week, we're honored to highlight Franklin and share a piece of his story. Franklin shares this message with us:
" I have always believed in God, but questioned what often felt like the performance of church. Still, I gravitated toward religious spaces out of familiarity and a genuine desire to be a good Christian. I’ve experienced my share of trauma in those spaces, yet my faith never truly wavered. The Holy Trinity had a way of holding onto me even when I struggled to hold on myself.

When I finally embraced my authentic self and chose to show up as my complete, whole person, my faith didn’t shrink, it deepened. For the first time, I felt truly seen.

Finding DCC has felt like a homecoming. Every Sunday carries the possibility of hearing from a phenomenal teacher or connecting with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life. After a long journey of searching for a community that honors both my faith and my values, I’ve found that place. I’m grateful to share my gifts here and even more grateful to finally belong somewhere that receives all of me. "

We set out to make all 3 pens into the cup…

Let’s just say it took a little teamwork (and maybe some patience 😄)

We gave it a try knowing it could make a difference… watch to see how we did!

Win or lose, we’re thankful for a community that continues to give, encourage, and be part of something bigger as we work to be a healing presence in this world.

This month, Analaura is sharing God and the Gay Christian by Matthew Vines.
"As a q***r Christian, this book was incredibly meaningful to me. It helped me understand that I didn't have to choose between my faith and my identity. The way Matthew Vines explores Scripture with both compassion and depth gave me language, perspective, and confidence for conversations I wasn't always sure how to navigate."
Whether you're LGBTQ+, an ally, or simply interested in learning more, this book offers a thoughtful exploration of faith, belonging, and God's love for all people.
Have you read it? Let us know what you thought!

This week, we're honored to highlight Luis and share a meaningful moment from his journey at DCC.

"On Sunday we celebrated the beginning of Pride Month with SunGay- a focus on q***r representation at church. The singers, the pastor (Cassie Adams), and the Eucharist volunteers were all q***r. I don’t ever want to forget Cassie’s introduction into Eucharist, as it encapsulated how I was feeling as I supported in this area. Her voice carried a lot of emotion- even needing to pause- as she described how church spaces often exclude members of the LGBTQ+ community but that on this day, they were the ones leading. She then tied this message to describe that how Eucharist was meant for anyone and everyone. It was special being a part of something healing - for q***r folk and allies alike- as well as helping to create a more welcoming church environment so that the next generation and any new church members don’t go through what some of us have faced. It was such a blessing being a part of this day."

For Luis, being part of SunGay was more than serving, it was a healing experience. It was an opportunity to help create a space in church where q***r people, allies, and future generations can experience belonging, affirmation, and love without having to endure the exclusion that so many have faced.
Thank you, Luis, for sharing your story and for helping build a community where everyone can find a place to belong!

Throughout Pride Month, we’ll be sharing weekly spotlights featuring LGBTQIA+ members of our community and their stories of faith, belonging, and identity. This week, we’re honored to highlight Nico.

When asked about her experience as a q***r Christian, Nico shared:

“Being a gay Christian has been a journey, much like coming out itself. I spent years away from the church, wondering if there was a place where I could bring my whole self. Eventually, I found Denver Community Church, where I learned that I didn’t have to choose between my faith and who God created me to be.”

Thank you, Nico, for sharing your story and reminding us of the power of belonging, authenticity, and God's inclusive love.

Last week, our Elders, Deacons, and Staff spent three days together for our EDS Retreat. During our time away, we shared meals, encouraged and affirmed one another, participated in spiritual formation sessions, laughed often, and built deeper connections as a team.
We are so grateful for this time of rest, renewal, and community, and for the opportunity to grow together in meaningful ways.
