Welcome to our first Wondering Wednesday as part of our 15-year summer celebration at REAL Life Community Services! 💬
Last Wednesday marked the final Power Packs program of the 2025–2026 school year. Each week, along with a box of groceries, families receive a recipe card with all the ingredients needed to make a meal at home.
It’s one of the many small ways we try to bring not just food—but connection, creativity, and care—to the families we serve.
And today, we’re wondering about YOU…

🌱🌽 Our Community Garden is Growing — Thanks to YOU! 🌽🌱

What an incredible season so far! Together, we've planted:

🧅 15,000 onions
🍉 500 watermelon plants
🍅 Hundreds of peppers, zucchini, and tomatoes
🌽 Nearly 4 acres of corn

None of this would have been possible without the amazing support of our volunteers and community. Thank you for helping us get everything planted and off to a great start!

Now we need your help to keep the momentum going. We are currently focused on maintaining the garden by weeding, cleaning, and caring for the crops so they can thrive. If you have a few hours to spare, we'd love to have you join us in the garden.

And beginning July 14, harvest season kicks into high gear! This is when we'll need volunteers more than ever as we work together to gather the fruits (and vegetables!) of all this hard work.

As we celebrate 15 years of REAL Life Community Services, we wanted to take a moment to share more about who we are and why we do what we do.
REAL Life currently offers more than 20 programs, services, and partnerships that support individuals and families across Northern Lancaster County—from newborns to senior citizens—who may be experiencing the effects of hopelessness.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple purpose:
to meet people where they are, respond to real needs, and help them discover that there is still hope—even in life’s darkest moments.
We serve everyone. And we never want someone to walk away empty-handed. If we can’t directly meet a need, we do everything we can to connect them with someone who can.
That support takes many forms—mentoring parents of young children, providing weekly food boxes, helping individuals navigate difficult life circumstances, or stepping in during critical seasons with school supplies and Christmas gifts so families can focus on essentials like food, rent, and utilities.
But our mission goes beyond meeting immediate needs. We aim to walk alongside people, build meaningful relationships, and help prevent future crises before they begin.
As we continue our 15-year celebration this summer, this is the heart behind everything you’ll see in our “Microdrop Mondays,” “Teaching Tuesdays,” and beyond: real people, real stories, and real hope.

📦🍎 This Friday is another one of our First Friday Food Drives!

As our Power Packs program takes a break for the summer, we typically receive less food from our partner food banks. That means we need your help to keep our pantry stocked for families participating in our Client Choice "Shopping" Program.

We've created a list of our most-needed items to make donating easy, but we gladly accept any in-date, non-perishable food items and personal care products.

Did you know that personal care items like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and soap cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits? Because of this, many families must prioritize food and go without some of these everyday essentials. Your donations help us provide not only nourishment, but also dignity and support for our neighbors.

Every item donated makes a difference and helps ensure that local families have access to the resources they need to thrive.

To mark this incredible milestone, we’re launching a summer-long social media campaign filled with entertainment, connection, and a behind-the-scenes look at life at REAL Life.
We’re kicking things off with our very first “Microdrop Monday”—a small preview of what’s coming your way all summer long:
Microdrop Mondays – Exclusive behind-the-scenes moments from REAL Life. Get a closer look at our day-to-day work and the people who make it happen.
Teaching Tuesdays – Learn more about who we are, our mission, and what it means to “Connect Our Community to Hope.”
Wondering Wednesdays – We want to get to know you! We’ll ask fun, thoughtful questions and invite you into the conversation.
Throwback Thursdays – A look back at 15 years of memories, milestones, and the people who helped shape our journey.
Funny Fridays – Because every week deserves a good laugh. We’ll share moments we hope bring a smile to your face.

Today, all of us at Real Life Community Services pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy every day, and we are forever grateful for their courage and selflessness.

As we spend time with family, friends, and our community this Memorial Day, we remember those who made it all possible. 🇺🇸
