Summer Storytime starts this week!

Calling all kids and families! Join us for Summer Storytime at the FUMC Denton Library—a fun and interactive hour of storytelling, crafts, activities, and a light snack. Each week, we’ll dive into a new story and enjoy a simple hands-on activity to match. This is a free, come-and-go event—no registration required.

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ To our beloved LGBTQIA2S+ community, you are loved, celebrated, and cherished by God and by your church!

This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Tim has been a dedicated music team volunteer for nearly 10 years—managing the music library, maintaining choir robes, mentoring new members, and participating in both the choir and handbell choir. Thanks to Tim for all his hard work and effort to maintaining our music world!

Summer Choir starts tomorrow at 10:15am in the Sanctuary!
Ever thought about trying choir but weren’t ready for a full-season commitment? Join us to learn that morning’s anthem and sing in worship—no long-term commitment required. Music will be accessible and prepared during our brief rehearsal before the service.Whether you’re a seasoned singer, a former choir member, or simply choir-curious, come as you are on May 31, June 7, 21, and 28!

Come spend the day with your FUMC Denton community at the lake! We'll be grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie dogs, and have drinks, chips, and cookies.

Feel free to bring your own lake fun! Suggested items: lawn chair, blanket, sunscreen, towels, life jackets, fishing poles, and anything else you’d normally bring to the lake.

Parking outside the gate is free; parking inside the gate is $15. The church van will be available to shuttle people from the outer parking area to the Cedar Elm Pavilion approximately every 15 minutes from 11-1. We encourage carpooling! Parents/guardians must accompany their children at all times.

On this Memorial Day, we hold space for those whose lives were lost in military service, and we honor the grief carried by families and friends.

As followers of Christ, we believe in a God who draws near to the brokenhearted and calls us to be peacemakers in a world that too often knows war.

To all who have served, and to those who mourn—your pain is not forgotten. We see you. We love you. And we pray for a world made whole.

Please note that our church office is closed today in honor of Memorial Day.
