ARCHBISHOP FULTON SHEEN TO BE BEATIFIED TODAY IN ST. LOUIS
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is set to be beatified today, September 24, 2026, during a special Mass at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, will preside over the celebration as the representative of Pope Leo XIV. The Mass is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Central Time.
Born in El Paso, Illinois, in 1895, Sheen was ordained a priest in 1919 and later served as auxiliary bishop of New York and bishop of Rochester. He became widely known for his pioneering work in radio and television, particularly through his popular program Life Is Worth Living, which brought Catholic teaching to millions of viewers.
If the beatification proceeds as scheduled, he will be formally known as Blessed Fulton J. Sheen.
