We were never meant to live out our faith on our own. The Bible teaches that part of having a relationship with God is having a relationship with other Christians. It is difficult if not impossible to have a great relationship with God without the fellowship of other Christians. The very nature of the church is that of a family, the family of God. God is on the move at DFMC!

Yesterday, we finished our Fresh Words for an Ancient Mission sermon series, focused on our new collective mission:

“Helping people from every culture and generation know Jesus, encounter His love, and live like Him.”

Pastor Bill closed out our series with a great message called Live Like Jesus.

One of the ways we are living out our faith is through our Go Serve the One ministry. We partner with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and local school social workers to help some of the most vulnerable children and families in our community, including children entering the foster care system.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to hear from some amazing social workers who are serving on the front lines of this important work. It was incredible to hear their stories, learn more about the needs in our community, and have the opportunity to pray for them and the children and families they serve.

Our church is serving in several practical ways:

* First-Night Bags: Filled with comforting and practical items for children entering foster care.
* Twin Beds and Mattresses: Provided through our partnership with Building Beds for Kids
* Backpacks and School Supplies: Provided for children in need.
* Replanted Conference: We are also proud to serve as a host site for the Replanted Conference, which equips and encourages foster and adoptive parents, Safe Families parents, kinship caregivers, support systems, and professionals.

Middle and high school students are invited to join us every Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. in the church basement. Ignite is a place to have fun, build meaningful friendships, ask honest questions, and grow in your relationship with Jesus.
