On Saturday, 30 May 2026, a group of our Sunday School students, lead by Fr. Horațiu and some parents, took a "field trip" to the Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan, stopping on the way at Vatra Românească in Grass Lake. At the Vatra, they learned about its history and role in the Romanian-American Orthodox community, played some games and enjoyed a light lunch. At the monastery, they were welcomed by Mother Abbess Gabriella who spoke to them about the monastery and living a Christian life. Mother Macrina then gave them a tour of the monastery grounds, including teaching about the saints represented in the "children's garden", and finally a chance to purchase some souvenirs in the monastery gift shop. Everyone was then treated to frozen yogurt on the way home.
