His story begins as a young boy who is given to God by his parents to serve in the temple. Now the prophet Samuel is nearing the close of his assignment from God. He addresses the nation, the people who have constantly been on his heart when he inquires of God. Israel has requested a king for leadership rather than a prophet. And Samuel addresses the tension that their plan has caused.

This Sunday, Sami Harris will preach God’s Word from I Samuel 12. You’ll be challenged with the question, “Who do I follow?” And you’ll have opportunity to respond. So join us for another Sunday that celebrates God’s power, grace, and kindness. Do you ever find yourself walking in ways of self-reliance? Grasping after the things that you desire rather than fully leaning into God for the blessings that He has for you? If so, then you probably can sympathize with Jacob. Join us this Sunday as we look to his story in Genesis...and examine our own hearts and the way that we move through life...the way that we walk...and consider if we're ready for it all to be changed by our Heavenly Father. As he closes his leadership tenure, Joshua makes his impassioned plea—“Choose this day whom you will serve!” It’s an appeal that has confronted generations of believers, and remains as relevant today as the moment it was first posed.

We continue in our “Preach the Word” series this Sunday at LIFE Church Springfield. Carol Reigner will both challenge and encourage us as she preaches from Joshua 24. Enjoy the pictures from our team that joined the Hendon's in Peru this summer to build a church in Nuevo Olivo, a remote village in the Amazon basin. # days of travel each way, and only two days to build the church for this community.
