Our summer staff is here, and we are ready to make this an incredible summer!! ☀️⛺️😎

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20 // The Great Commission

Today we continue with Brian Wilson! 🧑🏼‍🍳

Brian Wilson serves as the Assistant of Food Services at Fort Bluff, where he brings a diverse professional background and a deep-seated commitment to youth development. With over two years of experience at the camp — including more than a year in his current full-time capacity — Brian is a central figure in the Fort Bluff community.

His professional journey is marked by significant experience in both service and logistics. Before joining the camp full-time, Brian owned and operated a landscaping company for a decade. His career also includes tenures at Southern Champion Tray, Coca-Cola, and JB Hunt Transportation. A former student-athlete, he attended Hiwassee College, where he played baseball for three years.

At Fort Bluff, Brian combines his professional skills with his personal passions. He is the camp’s resident expert for on-site BBQ, personally smoking the meats and chicken for visiting groups. Driven by a desire to provide children with transformative experiences, he also occasionally assists with grounds maintenance, drawing on his ten years of professional landscaping expertise.

Brian’s work at the camp is an extension of his long-standing mission to support and guide young people. For a decade, he and his wife have served as foster parents for the State of Tennessee, reflecting their dedication to helping children who may have lost their way.

A resident of Dayton for 24 years, Brian lives just five minutes from the camp. His connection to Fort Bluff is a family affair; his wife and five daughters have all worked at the camp over the past ten years. In his spare time, he enjoys working on model trains. 🚂🧑🏼‍🍳👏🏻

Thanks for all you do, Brian!

continues today with Linda Rake!

Linda is a dedicated professional currently serving as the Housekeeping Supervisor at Fort Bluff. Since joining the organization in May 2024, she has demonstrated strong leadership, initially serving as the Assistant Housekeeping Manager before being promoted to her current supervisory role in January 2026. Linda finds deep fulfillment in the collaborative, prayer-centered environment at Fort Bluff and is committed to the mission of serving others.

Before her current tenure, Linda spent 15 years at Spruce Mountain Inn, a mental health treatment facility in Plainfield, Vermont. Her career there began in housekeeping, but her diverse skill set led to a promotion to Operations Assistant. In this multifaceted role, she managed a wide array of responsibilities, including:

• Overseeing housekeeping supervision, grounds maintenance, fire safety compliance, and coordinating with state inspectors.
• Managing staff scheduling, procurement of supplies, and hiring contractors for facility projects.
• Coordinating psychiatric appointments, maintaining medical records, and assisting nursing staff with client medications.
• Managing repairs and records for company vehicles and even performing hands-on tasks like refinishing wood furniture.

Linda’s professional life is marked by a deep commitment to service and community. Before moving to Tennessee in 2023 to be closer to family, she spent 15 years supporting her husband’s pastorate in Northfield, Vermont, where they ministered to homeschool families and students from Norwich University. She approaches her work with a spirit of stewardship, valuing teamwork and faith-based decision-making in all she does.

We are thankful for your service, Linda! 💚
