Yesterday was Graduation Sunday at Stone Glen Church of God. We celebrated our High School graduate, Andi Drawbaugh! Andi graduated from REACH Cyber Charter School. She plans on becoming an Event Manger & eventually owning her own Event Business. God bless you Andi with much success in your future endeavors!

DEVOTIONS BY DON:
Each holiday in June is significant. Juneteenth marked freedom from slavery and the work on that dream continues. Father’s Day remains an opportunity for another new tie- of course my preference would be milkshakes, cream filled donuts and burgers on the grill!! That leaves us with Flag Day.

Because of the 250 Celebration, Flag Day takes on a bit more meaning. During the last 25 years or so, the Flag has faced a number of reactions- patriotism, rejection, joy, burning, divisions, pride, etc. Our Flag speaks to our freedom and the cost to maintain it. This June 14, and beyond, my prayer is for our citizens to see and understand the sacrifice and service of faithful men and women from the 1770’s through 2026.

Without being preachy, please honor and respect the Flag- as well as the liberty, justice, and freedom it represents. An old song says- she’s a grand old Flag- it may be because I’m now over 70, or because I look back at my grandfather’s influence- but when I see our Flag in the breeze and the Stars and Stripes boldly lifted up- no other flag of any other nation comes close. If that sounds bias- so be it. The Lord bless you all as your families gather together to celebrate the birth and growth of America!!

DEVOTIONS BY DON:
According to the stories we learned growing up- we’ve experienced the April showers- so now the flowers should begin to bloom in May!! And considering the winter we were hit with, I’m more than ready for sunshine and flowers. My wife and I just put in a small garden and I’m looking forward to eating some tomatoes and string beans.

Of course the major thrust of the month remains Mother’s Day. Please bless the special ladies in your lives - think of the wives, moms, aunts, sisters, daughters, and grandmas - as well as the ladies in your circles who have impacted you in so many ways. It’s time for a call- or a card- perhaps some candy. Invest a little time - you won’t break the bank. If the opportunity arises - you could grill up some Hot Dogs and Hamburgers- spend some time to encourage and thank them.

Enjoy the warmth of May and watch nature burst forth. At Stone Glen we’ll begin a series on Proverbs from Mother’s Day through Father’s Day. You are invited!!

Officially spring and there are actually warmer temperatures making an appearance in the area. Of course, the month begins with April Fools Day and our favorite tax day of April 15!!

From the church’s perspective- Easter remains the highlight of the Christian calendar. We celebrate Jesus risen- as history and eternity meet. While some focus more on the candy and colored eggs (I’m partial to the peanut butter eggs) - we need to be mindful Christ was raised from the tomb- demonstrating He is the Son of God; that our faith is genuine and that our forgiveness and hope are real. We celebrate this

Oops!!! I almost forgot- April is usually when lawn mowing picks back up- what Joy!!
Trees should come into full bloom, flower beds worked on and green will become a dominant color. Enjoy your April showers and get ready for baseball and May.

DEVOTIONS BY DON:

As I sit down to work on the February newsletter article, our area in Mount Joy, like many others is digging out from our January 25 snowstorm. While the wind and cold impact those trying to clear walkways and driveways- the kids absolutely love it!!
Sleds and snowboards are fully engaged.

And so, from the frigid temperatures of January, we consider the warmth of love in February. Indeed, Valentines Day demands our attention - picking out cards, candy, flowers, jewelry, etc. Perhaps you’ve planned a special date or a proposal!!! Please remember those who might be lonely and include them in your giving.

At 73 - my issue is striving to come up with something fresh, original, or unique for my Valentine. Between dating and marriage - 2026 is Valentines Day # 53. Like many of you, I’ll attempt to tweak a “rerun”!!

Share your time - yourself - as you give from your heart with the deep desire to touch the lives and hearts of those you love and care for. And remember God loves and cares for you and walks with you day by day.

Teaching Schedule: Sunday morning we speak to friendship and how these relationships can become stronger and more meaningful. Looking ahead to March, we consider Christ and His journey to the Cross - we look to following His choices.
