Providence Baptist Church

Providence Baptist Church Providence Baptist Church is a Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, proclaiming the Doctrines of Grace Articles of Faith

1. (II Tim. 3:15-16)

3. I.

The overruling providence of God worked purposefully for years to bring about the establishment of Providence Baptist Church in the fall of 1996. The congregation began as a Bible Study in Brownsburg, Indiana and eventually grew into the church that presently meets in the home at 1500 Temple Dr., Danville, Indiana. The church is characterized by a people who love the truth and hold faithfully to G

od’s free and sovereign grace in Christ. We believe in only one true and living God, the Father, the Word or Son and the Holy Spirit; equal in power and glory. (I Tim. 2:5 John 17:3 John 1:1, 14 I Cor. 8:6 John 4:24 I John 5:7)

2. We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be of divine authority and the only infallible rules of faith and practice. We believe that God purposed in himself, for His own glory, to make a display of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness and truth, in the work of His creation, which He has made in the dispensation of His providence. Rom. 1:20 Psalm 19:1-6 Rev. 4:11

4. We believe in the total depravity of human nature, and that the recovery from that situation is wholly and entirely of the sovereign, free, unmerited grace of God in Christ Jesus. Rom. 3:10-18 Eph. 2:1-9

5. We believe that God, from eternity, through election, purposed to save a people from their sins, for His own name’s sake and that in infinite wisdom, He devised the plan, and appointed every means necessary to accomplish the great end of their redemption, which He effects in His own time, by the operation of His Holy Spirit. Matt. 1:21 Eph. 1:4-9 II Tim. 1:9

6. We believe that sinners are justified before God only by the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. Rom. 3:24-26 Rom. 5:1, 19 II Cor. 5:21

7. We believe all such as are truly born of the Spirit of God, are kept by the power of God, through faith, unto eternal salvation. Sam. 12:22 Jude 24 I Peter 1:3-5 John 10:28-29

8. We believe that all the regenerate are created in Christ Jesus unto good works, and that good works follow faith as a fruit of it, and that God works in His people both to will and to do of His good pleasure and that it is by our fruits that we are known. Eph. 2:10 Phil.2:13 Titus 2:11-14 Matt. 12:33

9. We believe that Christ is the fulfillment of the law and being the embodiment of perfect love, He is our rule of life for “as He is, so are we in this world.”
Matt. 5:17 Matt. 22:36-40 Rom. 10:4 I John 4:17 I John 2:6 Rom. 13:8-10

10. We believe Baptism, and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances of the Gospel, instituted by Jesus Christ, and none but those who profess faith in Christ and obedience to His will, are fit subjects for either. Matt. 28:19-20 Acts 8:35-37 Luke 22:19-20 I. Cor. 11:23-26 Acts 2:41-42

11. We believe immersion, according to the scriptures and apostolic practice, to be the only proper mode of Baptism and that Baptism is the doorway into the local church. Rom. 6:3-5 Acts 2:41-44

12. We believe that Christ Himself is the Sabbath (rest) of His people and in the light of this truth we have a person to honor and not a day to keep. The practice of the New Testament Church is to meet on the first day of the week for the purpose of honoring Him “who was delivered for our offences, and was raised for our justification.”
Heb. 4:1-11 Col. 2:16-17 Rom. 4:25

13. We believe in the resurrection of the body, both of the just and unjust; and that God will judge the world in righteousness by that man, whom He hath appointed. John 5:21-22, 28-29 Acts 17-31 Heb. 9:27 Rev. 20:11-15

14. We believe in the second coming of Christ and that the righteous will forever abide in the peaceful presence of God, their Redeemer, and His pardoning grace and forgiving love will be the theme of their song, while the wicked shall remain in everlasting torment. John 14:2-3 I Thess.4:13-18 Rev. 5:9-10 Rev. 20:6 Rev. 21:8 II Thess. 1:6-9

Bible: Romans 8:23-25

In Romans 8:23-25, Paul reminds us that we who have the firstfruits of the Spirit still groan inwardly alongside creation as we eagerly await our full adoption as sons-the redemption of our bodies. Though we are already justified and indwelt by the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of what is to come, our salvation is "already but not yet," filled with the tension of present suffering and future glory.
This is a call to live as people of hope: longing for the day when God publicly reveals His children, our lowly bodies are transformed like Christ's, and faith becomes sight. Let us wait for it with patience and encourage one another until that glorious day.

Bible: Romans 8:12-25

In Romans 8, Paul describes how all creation - nature, animals, and the earth itself - waits with eager longing and restless anticipation for the revealing of the sons of God. Subjected to futility and bo***ge to corruption because of Adam's sin, creation groans like a mother in childbirth, yet it looks forward in hope to the day it will be set free and transformed alongside the full glorification of God's redeemed children. Just as we actively wait with excitement for something greatly desired, creation stands on tiptoe, craning its neck toward the coming renewal when paradise is restored and righteousness dwells in a new heaven and new earth. This same hope calls us to live with eager expectation for our own adoption and glory in Christ.

Title: The Incomparable Weight of Glory
Speaker: Justin Walker

Bible: Romans 8:17-18

In this message, we explore the biblical imagery of ancient scales and balances as a way to understand suffering and glory. As fellow heirs with Christ, Christians are called to suffer with Him in a hostile world, just as our Lord did-yet Paul weighs these present sufferings on the divine scale in Romans 8:17-18 and declares them not even worthy of comparison to the eternal weight of glory that will be revealed to us.
Drawing from Paul's own extensive hardships and glimpses of heavenly glory, the sermon urges believers to stop focusing solely on temporary trials and instead place all our pain, loss, and affliction on the scale against the infinite promises of God: a new heavens and earth, the full presence of Christ, and unending joy.
Suffering is real and painful, but it is light and momentary when measured against the glory to come. Will you weigh it all on the balances?

Title: Five Foundational Truths for the Church
Speaker: Justin Walker
Date: April 26, 2026
Bible: Romans 3:21-28

The sermon presents a comprehensive exposition of the five solas—Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria—as foundational truths of the Christian faith, rooted in Scripture and reaffirmed during the Reformation. It emphasizes that Scripture alone is the ultimate, inerrant authority for faith and practice, revealing that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, not by human merit or tradition. The message underscores the exclusivity of Christ as the only mediator and means of salvation, rejecting pluralistic views of religion, and affirms that all things exist for the glory of God alone. Through a careful examination of key passages in Romans, Ephesians, Galatians, and other biblical texts, the sermon calls believers to a life of humble submission, where every aspect of faith and conduct is directed toward honoring God’s sovereignty, grace, and eternal glory.

Title: Heirs with Christ
Speaker: Justin Walker

Bible: Romans 8:12-17

In this exposition of Romans 8:15-17, the preacher explores the believer's deliverance from the spirit of slavery and fear into the glorious Spirit of adoption as sons of God. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we cry "Abba, Father!" with the same intimate confidence as Christ, are assured of our sonship, and become joint heirs with Christ - sharing in redemption, conformity to the Son, and an imperishable inheritance that culminates in the new heavens and the new earth. The message carefully balances the privileges of adoption with the responsibilities of sonship, while warning against false assurance and warns true believers to live in joyful obedience and reverence. It culminates in the ultimate hope: dwelling forever in unbroken communion with God Himself.

Because of the finished work of Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit, we are no longer debtors to the flesh or bound to sin. Instead, we are debtors to God - to put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit and live as those who have been adopted as sons. What a privilege: we who were once slaves in fear can now cry out with boldness, "Abba! Father!" as beloved children of the King.

Bible: Romans 8:9-11

In this exposition of Romans 8:9-11, we examine the critical difference between those who are in the flesh and those who are in the Spirit. Paul shows that the true mark of belonging to Christ is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who dethrones the flesh and brings life and peace. We are challenged to ask: Does the Spirit of God dwell in me? And to find our assurance not in outward appearances, but in the presence and rule of the Spirit in our hearts.

Title: Hostile to God
Speaker: Justin Walker
Series: By Faith - Romans
Date: March 22, 2026
Bible: Romans 8:1-8

The sermon on Romans 8:6–8 contrasts two mindsets: the mind set on the flesh (unregenerate people) leads to death and is actively hostile to God, refusing—and indeed unable—to submit to His law or please Him due to total depravity and total inability. In contrast, the mind set on the Spirit brings life and peace through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. The preacher stresses this hard, pride-crushing biblical truth, urging believers to proclaim it faithfully rather than softening it with man-centered views, and to examine their own spiritual condition while trusting God alone for transformation.
