Our community has experienced a heartbreaking tragedy, and right now there is a young man who needs to know he is not alone. On what should have been one of the happiest nights of his life — his graduation night — Alex Cook, a member of our church family, was involved in a devastating accident that forever changed so many lives.

Many of us have watched Alex grow up alongside our own children at Junction City Elementary. He has been a part of this community for years, and right now he and his family need the love, prayers, strength, and support of the people around them more than ever.

No words can take away this kind of pain, but as a community we can come together to surround Alex and his family with compassion, comfort, and prayer during this incredibly difficult time.

Please note: the location for the prayer vigil has been moved to Junction City Park. We invite everyone to come stand together in support of Alex, pray over him and his family, and remind them they do not have to carry this burden alone.

This is not about taking away from the tragedy or the unimaginable loss another family is experiencing. Our hearts are broken for everyone involved. This is simply about showing grace, compassion, and support to a young man whose life was also forever changed that night.

The vigil will be held Friday, May 29th at 6:30 PM at Junction City Park. If you are able, please come out, say a prayer, and help surround this family with love during such a heartbreaking time. ❤️

If you are unable to attend and would still like to support the family, cards can be mailed to:

Meet our new Family & Missions Ministry Leaders, Chris and Debbie McKenzie!

“Hi everyone! We are Chris and Debbie McKenzie. We stay pretty busy between work, church, kids, and ministry life. Chris works in IT with UK Extension, and Debbie works at Junction City Elementary. We have two kids, Landon and Chloe, and we’re also currently raising our niece, Summer.

We’re excited to help serve through the Family Missions Ministry. One area we’ve had some experience in is foster/kinship care support, but we’re looking forward to being part of several different outreaches and ways to support our community.

We believe no family should have to walk hard seasons alone, and we’re excited to see what God does through this ministry.”
