110 Years of Existence.

Today was a truly special day for our church. Pastor Dean shared the Word with us, reminding us once again of God’s faithfulness throughout every season of our journey. This moment marks a significant milestone—one that reflects the countless efforts, sacrifices, and even the tears that have shaped what we now see standing before us.

Cockrell Hill Baptist Church is more than a building. It is a living testimony of history, of the men and women who planted the seed, who dreamed boldly, who held fast to a God-given vision, and who refused to accept “no” as the final answer. Their labor, their love, and their unwavering conviction echo through every wall of this sanctuary.

To all of you—past and present—who have poured your hearts into this ministry: thank you. As the pastor of this church, I am deeply honored and humbled to shepherd a congregation with such a rich legacy, a place that has endured trials, changes, and challenges, yet continues to stand firm by the grace of God.

And today, with full assurance and grateful hearts, we can declare together: Ebenezer—thus far the Lord has helped us.

One semester ago, I made a decision that would shape not only my ministry, but also my heart.
With prayer, humility, and a deep desire to grow, I committed myself to further developing as a servant of God and as a minister to His people. It was then that I began the journey of pursuing my CPE clinical units — a path I knew would challenge me, refine me, and ultimately strengthen the way I engage with those who are hurting, searching, and in need of hope.

By the grace of God, I completed my first unit. Not by my strength, not by my wisdom, but by the faithful hand of the Lord who walks with me. This first step has already shaped me profoundly. It has opened my eyes, softened my heart, and helped me listen with greater compassion and understanding. It has reminded me that ministry is not about what I know, but about who God is within me.

Now I look ahead — three more units to go, and then the board — and though the road may seem long, I am not discouraged. God is helping me. God is teaching me. God is forming me. Every session, every reflection, every challenge is part of His preparation, molding me into a more effective instrument for His kingdom.

I continue this journey not for a title, not for recognition, but because I want to serve better, love deeper, and reflect Christ more faithfully. As a minister, I believe I must keep growing, keep learning, and keep surrendering to the One who called me.

And so I walk forward with confidence — not in myself, but in the God who began this work in me and who will surely bring it to completion.

110 Years of Faith, Sacrifice, and Love – Cockrell Hill Baptist Church

Today we celebrate something greater than an anniversary; we celebrate 110 years of history, lives devoted, hardworking hands, and hearts that said “yes” to God’s work. Our beloved church, which I have the privilege and honor of pastoring, is not just a building: it is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and of the tireless efforts of those who came before us.

I think of the tears shed in times of difficulty, the sweat of many who built brick by brick, the love that became action. Every sacrifice, every prayer, every effort has borne fruit, and today we stand in the midst of the community as a beacon of light, hope, and life.

I also want to honor those who remain faithful, serving for decades—some 40, 50, even 60 years—keeping the doors open for all who seek spiritual nourishment. Their faithfulness is a living testimony that God works through hands that are willing and hearts that persevere.

Our Lord has been present every step of the way. In the midst of difficulties, He never left us alone; in every challenge, His provision and guidance upheld us. Thanks to Him, this ministry became a spring of living water for countless souls, a place where God’s love is manifested through action.

To those who have already gone to be with the Lord, we owe eternal gratitude. They said “yes” when others might have said “no,” and with their hands and hearts, they laid the foundation of what we celebrate today.

Today we do not only look back; we also look forward with hope. May these 110 years serve as a reminder that God’s work endures, that the faith of a single heart can change generations, and that with love, perseverance, and dedication, we will continue to be a light in Cockrell Hill and beyond.

¡110 Años de Fe, Sacrificio y Amor! – Cockrell Hill Baptist Church

Hoy celebramos algo más grande que un aniversario; celebramos 110 años de historia, de vidas entregadas, de manos laboriosas, de corazones que dijeron “sí” a la obra de Dios. Nuestra amada iglesia, la cual tengo el privilegio y el honor de pastorear, no es solo un edificio: es un testimonio vivo de la fidelidad de Dios y del esfuerzo incansable de quienes vinieron antes que nosotros.

Pienso en las lágrimas derramadas en tiempos de dificultad, en el sudor de muchos que construyeron ladrillo a ladrillo, en el amor que se convirtió en acción. Cada sacrificio, cada oración, cada esfuerzo ha dado fruto, y hoy nos encontramos en medio de la comunidad como un faro de luz, esperanza y vida.

Quiero honrar también a aquellos que permanecen fieles, sirviendo durante décadas, algunos 40, 50 y hasta 60 años, manteniendo abiertas las puertas para todos aquellos que buscan alimento espiritual. Su fidelidad es testimonio vivo de que Dios obra a través de manos que se entregan y corazones que perseveran.

Nuestro Señor ha estado presente en cada paso de este camino. En medio de dificultades, Él nunca nos dejó solos; en cada desafío, Su provisión y Su guía nos sostuvieron. Gracias a Él, este ministerio se convirtió en un manantial de agua viva para innumerables almas, un lugar donde el amor de Dios se manifiesta en acción.

A quienes ya partieron a la presencia del Señor, también les debemos gratitud eterna. Ellos dijeron “sí” cuando otros habrían dicho “no”, y con sus manos y corazones pusieron los cimientos de lo que hoy celebramos.

Hoy no solo miramos atrás; también miramos hacia adelante con esperanza. Que estos 110 años sean un recordatorio de que la obra de Dios perdura, que la fe de un solo corazón puede cambiar generaciones y que, con amor, perseverancia y entrega, seguiremos siendo luz en Cockrell Hill y más allá.
