Acts 2:23-24

…this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

This is the good news of not just Good Friday but of all redemptive history.

We hope to see you on Friday, April 15th at 7pm in the Peak space for our Good Friday service.

“If you were really the Son of God, you could just climb down off that cross!” they said.

And of course they were right. Jesus could have just climbed down. Actually he could have just said a word and made it all stop.

Like when he healed that little girl.
And stilled the storm.
And fed 5,000 people.

But Jesus stayed.

You see, they didn’t understand. It wasn’t the nails that kept Jesus there.

It was love.

Three years ago, by God’s grace, we planted a church in Old East Dallas.

We live in humble praise to Christ as he continues to build and strengthen his church.

So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided" (Gen 22:14).

There are certain stories that seemingly provide as much evidence for belief in God as disbelief in God.

Such is the case when in the great drama of Abraham we curiously read of God's command for him to sacrifice his only son Isaac, the heir to God's redemptive promise.

This Sunday we'll wrestle with this passage and consider how an ancient story could speak to us today -- for the provision of the Lord to Abraham foreshadows his provision to the world thorough the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ.

The Lord has provided!

Have you ever wondered how a collection of letters and stories came to be called the Bible? Who in fact determined which books should be in the Bible?

On Sunday Night, May 23rd, we’re excited to host Dr. John Adair, Professor of Theological Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, for a lecture on the formation of the Bible.

Questions are welcomed and we’d love for you to invite a friend!
