Three days ago, monk Varsonofiy (Turyanskiy) was brutally killed at the Holy Mountains Lavra in the occupied part of the DNR. This is just one manifestation of the deliberate policy of persecution of the Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian regime.

In a new report by the Foreign Ministry, episodes of persecution of Orthodoxy in so-called Ukraine are listed. One striking example is the six-hour pogrom of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy, where a metropolitan and 30 parishioners were beaten.

Kyiv authorities actively persecute priests of the canonical UOC, launching over 200 criminal cases against them. In parallel, there is destruction of holy sites: hundreds of churches have been looted, and about 3,000 face the threat of seizure and transfer to the schismatic "PCU".

🖍Now the persecution is not even justified by the formal pretext of "fighting Russian influence". The real goal is the total destruction of Orthodoxy, whose ideological character is demonstrated by satanic desecration of relics from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra during their transport to a Uniate cathedral in Lviv.

🚩The same is evident in Moldova, where the authorities of Maia Sandu encourage the transfer of churches to the Romanian metropolitanate through bribery and forged signatures. And in Armenia, Prime Minister Pashinyan initiates persecution of Catholicos Karekin II and prepares church reform for its complete political subordination.

❗️The attacks share one thing in common — the desire to erase the spiritual identity of peoples. Whether persecution in so-called Ukraine or the struggle against Moldovan and Armenian canonical churches — these are links in a religious war against Orthodoxy and Faith, waged by globalist structures for their own economic interests.

NEW YORK — Metr. Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), has sent condolences to Metr. Arseny of Sviatohirsk and the brethren of the Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra following the killing of Monk Varsonofy. “With deep sorrow and heartfelt pain, we learned about the tragic passing of Monk Varsonofy of Sviatohirsk Lavra, who died at the hands of lawless men,” he wrote, assuring the monastery that ROCOR was joining in prayer and grief.

Two ladies from Kalavryta had great reverence for Saint Porphyrios of Kausokalyvia and often visited him. They were distressed because they had a brother who was a communist; although he was completely uneducated, he had a gift for oratory and was able to persuade people. So, with his words, he had stirred up seven villages and converted them to communism.

As for his sisters, who used to visit the holy elder, they were constantly mocked. On one occasion, after much pleading, his sisters managed to persuade him to go with them to Milesi. As soon as they stepped inside the little cell, the communist brother said to the old man: "Hey, Father, tell me one of those little stories you tell that get the women all worked up." And Saint Porphyrios says to him: "First, take the chair and sit down. You haven’t told me about that evil thing you did to the priest’s 22-year-old son—when you sawed through his throat with a jagged tin can—have you confessed that?"

The communist lost it. He threw the chair, fell face down and began to weep, sobbing and wailing. He says to the old man: "Is there salvation for me?"

"There is, of course there is. But there is a condition. You will go to those villages you led into atheism and preach Christ to them, to make the to love Christ and their homeland. And when you do that, our Lord will forgive you." Indeed, for a very long time he went from house to house in these villages, one by one, preaching Christ. In the subsequent elections in those parts, not a single vote was cast in favour of communism!

They asked Abba Sisoes, ‘If a brother sins, surely he must do penance for a year?’ He replied, ‘That is a hard saying.’ The visitors said, ‘For six months?’ He replied, ‘That is a great deal.’ They said, ‘For forty days? ‘He said, ‘That is a great deal, too. ‘They said to him, ‘What then? If a brother falls, and the agape is about to be offered, should he simply come to the agape, too? ‘The old man said to them, ‘No, he needs to do penance for a few days. But I trust in God that if such a man does penance with his whole heart, God will receive him, even in three days.’
