Important message from Pastor Dan
Church family,
This is one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to share. For more than seven years, my wife and I have had the privilege of calling this church our home and you our family. We have walked together through joys and sorrows, baptisms and funerals, answered prayers and unexpected challenges. You have loved us well, and we have loved you deeply.
Over the past months, the Lord has been stirring something in my heart. At 75 years old, I have sensed Him gently leading us into a new season — one that allows us to be closer to our son, his wife, and the four precious children they have adopted. We want to pour into them while we still have the strength and opportunity to do so.
At the same time, I believe with all my heart that God is preparing this church for a new chapter. I am convinced He is raising up the right leader to take FBC Cuba into the next season of ministry — someone who will build on what God has already done and lead you forward with fresh vision and renewed energy.
This decision has not been made lightly. I have prayed, wrestled, sought counsel, and waited on the Lord. And though it is painful, I have peace. Scripture reminds us:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
I am trusting Him to make straight the path for you and for us.
I want you to hear this clearly: my leaving is not a sign of trouble — it is a step of obedience. I am not stepping away from love, but stepping forward in faith. And I believe God will honor that for all of us.
You are a strong church.
You are a loving church.
You are a resilient church.
And God is not finished with you.
Paul’s words to the Philippians echo my heart today:
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you… because of your partnership in the gospel… And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:3–6 (ESV)
I have seen God’s work in you — your faith, your generosity, your hunger for the Word, your love for one another. And I am confident He will continue that work long after I am gone.
My request is simple:
Stand together.
Pray together.
Love one another deeply.
Support the next pastor God brings.
And keep Christ at the center of everything.
Though my role will change, my affection for you will not. You will always be part of our story, and we will continue to pray for you as God leads you forward.
Church, the same God who brought us together is the God who now leads us into different fields of service. His plans are good, His timing is perfect, and His grace is sufficient.
“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever.”
— Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
He will fulfill His purpose for you as well.
