Sunday night we headed back to Rome for Last Sunday Live, welcoming tons of kids for crafts, Bible stories, games and an awesome dinner with help from some incredible volunteers! There was even an impromptu autograph session with everyone’s favorite Roman athlete, Festus. Look out for the next one September 27th for kids K-4th Grade!

Traditional Worship for August 29, 2026: Us & Them - 1 Timothy 1:12-17

Saint & Sinner: This text holds, in beautiful tension, the testimony of Paul’s experience of grace. He admits the full depth of his sinfulness but recognizes that Jesus’ grace is big enough to not only meet that sin with mercy but to strengthen and call him into God’s own service. In our divided world, it can be easy to cast blame on those we think have it wrong, seeing ourselves as “holier-than-thou.” But Paul reminds us that we are all sinners in need of God’s grace and that Jesus is continually working in and on all of us – saints-in-progress.

Categories like “us” and “them” can give us a false sense of identity and community based on who is inside and who is outside. Unity in Christ offers the deepest belonging. This belonging does not define itself over against outsiders/enemies but rather is defined by a love that both goes out and draws in. At its best, Christian community embodies this unity. But through Jesus, we no longer have to identify ourselves this way. We are called to reach across those boundaries with God’s love in action.
