Traditional Worship for May 31, 2026: The Miraculous Catch: John 21: 1-14

In John 21, the disciples fish all night and catch nothing until Jesus calls them to cast their net on the other side, reminding us that true abundance comes not through our own strength, but through trust and obedience to Christ. This message challenges us to look beyond the distractions and divisions of the world and ask: “Where is Jesus leading me to cast my net?” As followers of Jesus, we are called to become fishers of people in a world longing for grace. Through Christ’s guidance, our ordinary efforts can become a blessing far greater than we could imagine.

Contemporary Worship 5.24.26: Pentecost: Ordinary People Transformed To Do Extraordinary Things John 14: 25-27 & Acts 2: 1-13

By itself, the Pentecost story looks bizarre. But seeing what happened on the day of Pentecost within Scripture’s larger narrative makes the story easier to understand.

When we see the first Pentecost in context, it’s not just about GOD giving people instantaneous multilingual skills or the fiery sign of Holy Spirit’s presence. It’s not just about the birth of the church. We’re shown a GOD that transforms and equips ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Today was a spectacular Confirmation Sunday! Nineteen youth were confirmed in the church as well as three families accepting membership along with two baptisms! It was a special Sunday and we're so thrilled to welcome this incredible group into the church!

Today in worship, we are formed and reminded of our identity as followers of Jesus Christ is what allows us to lead with courage. Leading courageously is about praying honestly and frankly about the concerns of the world, paying attention to what God calls us to do in response, and then acting with and for God’s abundant life in our communities. Leading courageously is recognizing that we do not have to be in charge to lead well and practicing the humility and generosity that mark good leadership.
