TOMORROW, MAY 14, IS ASCENSION DAY! JOIN US AT 6:00 PM AS WE CELEBRATE THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD!
The Ascension is something we confess nearly every week in the Apostles' or Nicene Creed. Obviously, the Christians before us believed the Ascension of Christ was important. And it is!
That's why it is so sad that it has become "the forgotten festival" for so many Christians and Christian churches. It used to be that an Ascension Day service was a given in any Lutheran church, or any liturgical church, for that matter. But that is no longer the case. Because Ascension always falls on a Thursday evening in May, it falls prey to people preferring to go to a ballgame, do lawn work, or attend an end of the school year event. In recent decades, more and more Christians have forgotten about celebrating this important festival. Thankfully, our Lord Jesus did not forget about his Ascension, for it is full of blessing for us, just as his birth, life, death, and resurrection is. Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father to serve as our Prophet, Priest, and King. That will be the focus of our service tomorrow evening.
Don't let Ascension be the forgotten festival for you! Gather with your Lord and his people TOMORROW EVENING AT 6:00 PM!
