"But I prayed about it." This is another lie of Satan that he wants us to believe. We will taking a look at it in our Summer Bible Time on Sunday at 10:15 AM.
"But I prayed about it." Prayer is a great privilege we have as children of God through faith in Christ. Yet, like every other gift and blessing of God, Satan loves to ruin it. Satan loves to get us to confuse prayer with the Word of God. God's speaks to us in his Word. We speak to God in prayer. But Satan likes to get us to think that prayer can replace the Word of God when nothing is further from the truth. That's because it is God's Word that nourishes our faith, while prayer exercises it! Put another way, God's Word is the source of faith, and prayer is the result of faith.
This lie leads many people astray in various ways. For instance, some people justify their lack of hearing and learning God's Word in church by saying, "But I pray every day." They fail to see that they are doing all the talking and no listening. Others deceive themselves into thinking that God is going hear their prayers all the while they are actively living contrary to his Word. Their "prayer life" becomes a "cover up" of their openly sinful life. Still others think the power of prayer comes from them, rather than God. They think because they want it to happen, God naturally also wants it to happen. They forget to pray according to God's will.
Join us as we expose this lie with God's Word and follow its truth!
