"But I prayed about it." This is another lie of Satan that he wants us to believe. We will taking a look at it in our Summer Bible Time on Sunday at 10:15 AM.

"But I prayed about it." Prayer is a great privilege we have as children of God through faith in Christ. Yet, like every other gift and blessing of God, Satan loves to ruin it. Satan loves to get us to confuse prayer with the Word of God. God's speaks to us in his Word. We speak to God in prayer. But Satan likes to get us to think that prayer can replace the Word of God when nothing is further from the truth. That's because it is God's Word that nourishes our faith, while prayer exercises it! Put another way, God's Word is the source of faith, and prayer is the result of faith.

This lie leads many people astray in various ways. For instance, some people justify their lack of hearing and learning God's Word in church by saying, "But I pray every day." They fail to see that they are doing all the talking and no listening. Others deceive themselves into thinking that God is going hear their prayers all the while they are actively living contrary to his Word. Their "prayer life" becomes a "cover up" of their openly sinful life. Still others think the power of prayer comes from them, rather than God. They think because they want it to happen, God naturally also wants it to happen. They forget to pray according to God's will.

Join us as we expose this lie with God's Word and follow its truth!

Join us for DIVINE SERVICE this SUNDAY, JUNE 28, at 9:00 AM or MONDAY, JUNE 29, at 6:00 PM! Divine Service accurately describes what happens when we gather for public worship. God first gracious serves us, giving us his gifts of forgiveness of sins, new life, and eternal salvation through his Word and Sacraments. As we gladly receive these gifts from God in faith, we are then able to gratefully serve him with our prayers, praises, and offerings.

This week we continue our summer series on the Ten Commandments: Ten Words For a Blessed Christian Life. We will be looking at the Third Commandment which tells us to "Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy."

"Sabbath" is the Hebrew word for "rest." Our bodies get tired after a long day of school or work, or even a day full of fun and play. Our souls get tired, too, burdened by guilt and doubt and fear. In the Third Commandment, God commands us to remember to set aside time every week to receive the rest we need and which he graciously gives our weary souls through the forgiveness of sins in Christ. He gives us this rest whenever we gather together for public worship as his Word is preached and his Supper served.

Come, join us this week and get some rest! See you in church!

This summer in our Bible study for all ages we are examining 13 Lies Satan Wants You To Believe. This week we will examine the popular lie, "We all worship the same God anyhow." This is another lie fabricated by the father of lies, the devil, and sadly, a lie that many people believe. Come and see how God's Word exposes this for the lie it is and provides us with the truth. The truth is not all religions are the same and not all worship the same God. This is an important truth for there is only one true God and he alone can save us. Join us following our Sunday service at 10:15 AM or after our Monday service at 7:00 PM. Come and grow!

Join us for GOD'S SERVICE THIS SUNDAY AT 9:00 AM or MONDAY AT 6:00 PM! God's Service (or Divine Service) accurately describes what happens when we gather in God's house as God's people for public worship. First, God graciously serves us, giving us his gifts of forgiveness of sins, new life, and eternal salvation in his Word and Sacraments. Then, as we gladly receive these gifts from God in faith, we are able to gratefully serve him with our prayers, praises, and offerings.

We continue our summer service and sermon series on the Ten Commandments, the summary of God's moral law meant for all people of all time. This week consider the Second Commandment, "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God." A person’s name is that which he is known. God’s name is every name, title,
and statement makes himself known to us. God makes his name known to us to bless us and save us. Since it is eternally important for us to know and believe in the one true God, he has revealed his name to us. This is also why he has given us a commandment which protects his holy and saving name. In the Second Commandment, God warns us against using his
name improperly and encourages us use his name properly. As those who have been saved by and who bear the name of the one true God and only Savior, we want to honor his name by using it properly.

THIRTEEN LIES SATAN WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE
Join us this Sunday, June 14 as we begin our Summer Family Bible Time at 10:15 AM with a new study entitled, "Thirteen Lies Satan Wants You To Believe." We will use God's Word to expose and refute the Satanic lie "It's just a matter of interpretation." This lie, which many people believe, suggests that God caused his Word to be written in a way that is not clear nor understandable, as if we are left to wonder what God really says and means. Nothing could be further from the truth! Join us this week as we use his Word to expose and refute this dangerous lie!

Join us this SUNDAY, JUNE 14 at 9:00 AM or MONDAY, JUNE 15 at 6:00 PM FOR DIVINE SERVICE!

DIVI(NE SERVICE (or GOD'S SERVICE) accurately describes what happens whenever we gather for public worship. First, God graciously serves us, giving us his gifts, including forgiveness of sins sins, new life, and eternal salvation, by means of his Word and Sacraments. As we gladly receive these gifts from God in faith, we are then able to gratefully serve him with our prayers, praises, and offerings.

This week we continue our summer series on the Ten Commandments, "Ten Words For A Blessed Christian Life." We will be considering the First Commandment, "You shall have no other gods."

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why God is so concerned that he occupy first place in your heart and life? That he not be beside any of those other idols on which you might set your attention and give your affection? It’s not because God has an inferiority complex and needs to be told how great he is. Nor is it because he is jealous like we human beings are jealous. No, the reason God gives this very first commandment is because he loves you and wants you to be saved. Since he is the only true God, he is the only One who can give you what you need the most: forgiveness for all your sins, a perfect righteousness before him, a life that never ends, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. The one true and living God allows no rivals because he loves you and wants
you to be saved and he is the only one who can save you!

See you in God's house with God's people for God's service!

JOIN US FOR DIVINE SERVICE THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 7 or MONDAY, JUNE 8. Divine Service accurately describes what happens when we gather in God's house around his Word and Sacraments. God first graciously serves us, distributing his greatest gifts of forgiveness of sins, new life, and eternal salvation through his Word and Sacraments. Having received these gifts from God in faith, we are then able to respond with gratitude to him with our praise, prayers, offerings, and service.

This week we begin a service and sermon series on the Ten Commandments entitled, Ten Words For A Blessed Christian Life. Unfortunately, many people see God's commandments as onerous burdens, which limit their freedom and happiness. In fact, that's the way we all naturally view God's commandments because of our sinful nature. Our sinful nature doesn't like anyone telling us what to do, even God! It's only by God's grace and power that every believer in Christ is a new creation with both a new status before God (forgiven child of God) and a new attitude toward God's will. Reborn by water and the Spirit as children of God, we no longer see God's will as burdensome and restrictive, but rather as a blessing. Since we know God as the One who has set us free from the slavery of sin, we hear his commandments as his call to live in that freedom.
