Sweet moms don’t give up. You matter.
The work you are putting in matters. Every single bit of it!
It is creating ripples that will continue to flow for generations to come.
As I think of hard work and endurance, the story of Ruth pops into my mind.
After her husband passed away, Ruth finds herself as a young widow in a new city living with her mother-in-law. She not only decided to follow her mother-in- law, Naomi, to Bethlehem but she also made a choice to follow God.
While mourning and fearful of the unknown life without a husband, she finds herself gleaning on the threshing floor and holding onto the hope of God finding favor on her.
“Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor.” (Ruth 2:2)
At the time, Ruth did not know that through her mourning, hard work, and dedication, all would eventually amount to something major.
After getting married to Boaz and having children of her own, she had no clue that in the mundane and faithfulness of motherhood, a future king would be born. From the same lineage so would the Messiah.
“They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.” (Ruth 4:17)
In Ruth’s lifetime of being obedient she might have not seen the fruit of her labor come to completion with her earthly eyes; Ruth was not going to physically see all the reasons why her troubles on this side of heaven happened but that didn’t mean that her faithfulness to keep showing up at what God called her to do, didn’t matter. It mattered tremendously! Ruth mattered and you know what mom, so do you!
The fruit might not come to fruition before your eyes but perhaps it is in the quiet, in the redundancy, in the tears, in the sweat, in the uncertainty and in the pain of motherhood, God is doing a good work for things up ahead.
Hold onto hope!
