David was not a big or strong warrior, but he trusted God. God gave David power to defeat a giant. When God sent His Son to earth, Jesus did not look like a strong warrior either. But by dying on the cross and coming back to life, Jesus showed His power over sin and death. Jesus is our Warrior King. When Jesus gave Himself as a sacrifce for us on the beautiful terrible cross, He made a way for us to be with Him forever in heaven. Jesus is the Way. God intended for a heavenly king to rule over Israel, but the Israelites did not trust God’s plan. They wanted their way instead of God's way. So, God chose Saul to be their king. There were negative consequences for their lack of trust in God. God's plans are always the best. God had a plan to one day send His Son, Jesus, to rule the entire world. Jesus would be the perfect King who would bring peace and salvation to the world. We need to pray and aks for help to follow God's will for our lives. His way is still the best way. Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin. Jesus ultimately freed people from the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again. Read this week's Parent Connect to learn more.

Boaz was a family redeemer. That means he would help his close relatives who were in trouble. Boaz cared for Ruth and Naomi because their husbands had died. In a similar way, Jesus is our Redeemer. We need help because we sin and the cost of our sin is eternal death.(Romans 6:23) Jesus bought our salvation for us by taking our punishment when He died on the cross. When we believe in Jesus we receive freedom. Salvation is a free gift to us, but it cost Jesus every drop of blood in His body. Read this week's Parent Connect to learn more.

The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12) Read this week's Parent Connect to learn more.

As Joshua prepared for his own death, he left a legacy of obedience to God, his life points to Jesus but he was still a sinner. (Romans 3:23) Jesus legacy is perfect obedience. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, He appeared to the disciples and left them with a legacy: to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded. We can be sorrowful over being caught in our sin and truly not turn from it. Balaam was a prophet who used the gift God gave Him for witchcraft and finacial gain. When he was caught in sin. He was sorry. Even though Balaam heard a talking donkey and spoke to the Angel of the LORD, he still didn’t have a truly repentant heart. (Numbers 22-24) Yes, we need to turn away from our sins. However, if we don't truly repent and turn to Jesus we are missing the point. Only Jesus can save us. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to Father except through JESUS.
