Isaiah had a vision of God’s glory and realized his own sin. God forgave Isaiah’s sin. Like Isaiah, when we see how Holy God is, we see how sinful we are. After winning a contest with Baal’s prophets, Elijah ran for his life from Jezebel and God spoke to him in a quiet whisper. As a prophet of God, Elijah faced enemies who wanted to hurt him. Elijah’s life points forward to Jesus, the greatest Prophet, Who was hated and killed for sharing and teaching God’s Word. if we put our hope in Jesus,c onfess Him as Lord,and believe God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved from eternal death.

The people in Israel who worshiped the false god Baal danced and cried and cut their bodies to show that they loved Baal. But the ONE TRUE GOD is not like the false gods. He doesn't require us to cut ourselves to show Him our love. Instead, He showed His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus. Jesus bled and died to rescue us from sin. If we put our trust in Him; we will receive His gift of salvation. The prophet Elijah challenged the people to stop worshiping false gods and to believe in GOD again. After they witnessed God's power; many fell on their faces, turned from sin, and worshiped only HIM. We should do the same. God is ALWAYS ready to accept us and to forgive us when we turn wholeheartedly back to HIM. Read this week's Parent Connect to learn more.

Job suffered and wanted a mediator—someone to bring him to God. This reminds us of Jesus, who suffered even though He had never sinned. Jesus is our Mediator. God promised David that every future king of Israel would come from David’s family, and David’s kingdom would last forever. God kept His promise by sending His Son, Jesus, to be one of David’s descendants. Jesus is our King who will rule over God’s people forever. David was not a big or strong warrior, but he trusted God. God gave David power to defeat a giant. When God sent His Son to earth, Jesus did not look like a strong warrior either. But by dying on the cross and coming back to life, Jesus showed His power over sin and death. Jesus is our Warrior King. When Jesus gave Himself as a sacrifce for us on the beautiful terrible cross, He made a way for us to be with Him forever in heaven. Jesus is the Way. God intended for a heavenly king to rule over Israel, but the Israelites did not trust God’s plan. They wanted their way instead of God's way. So, God chose Saul to be their king. There were negative consequences for their lack of trust in God. God's plans are always the best. God had a plan to one day send His Son, Jesus, to rule the entire world. Jesus would be the perfect King who would bring peace and salvation to the world. We need to pray and aks for help to follow God's will for our lives. His way is still the best way. Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin.
